Traits

Incorporeal Movement. The amalgamation can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) [force] damage, if it ends its turn inside an object.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the amalgamation has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on  Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Cry for Help. The amalgamation has advantage on attack rolls while its within 20 feet of at least two other creatures. It otherwise has disadvantage on attack rolls.

Actions

Life Drain. Melee Spell Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d6 + 3) [necrotic] damage. The target mus succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or its hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the creature finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.

Reach. RangedSpell Attack: +8 to hit, range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d8 + 5) [fire] damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 15) if it is a Huge or smaller creature. The amalgamation can grapple up to five creatures at once.

Tortured Souls. Each creature grappled by the amalgamation must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw, taking 9 (2d8) [psychic] damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. In either case, the amalgamation pulls each of those creatures up to 10 feet straight toward it.

Reactions

Embrace. The amalgamation targets a humanoid within 5 feet of it that has been dead for no longer than 1 minute. The target's soul is consumed by the amalgamation, healing the amalgamation for 16 (2d8+8) hit points and temporarily bolstering its armor class by +2 for 2d4 rounds. If the amalgamation consumes 25 or more souls this way, it grows to Amalgamation Category 3.
