Description
The Areadverian wyvern is a species of wyvern that split off of the traditional wyvern species thousands of years ago, before the time of men, on what is now the continent of Kalambrio in the coastal country of Areadveria. They were worshiped by primitive humans and elves as messengers of good aligned gods, and hunted to near extinction during the hundred year war between Areadveria and the neighboring kingdom of Esmana. During his reign over the newly unified Areadveria-Esmana, King Dante saw to it himself that the Areadverian wyvern would be a protected species. After three hundred years, the Areadverian wyvern regained its prevalence in the ecosystem, and serve the royal family of Areadveria-Esmana and those they deem worthy.
Unlike their more reptilian relatives, the Areadverian wyvern took on a more feathered appearance living in secluded bays along the mountainous Areadverian coastline, which is why they were believed to be the messengers of the good aligned gods of Areadveria. There, they would typically get their sustenance from fish they would catch, rarely going into the forests. It was not uncommon for the elves of Areadveria to befriend one of these creatures, causing the fear that the elves would ride them to overthrow both Areadveria and Esmana.
