Patient Ambusher. The Vahki Nuurakh has advantage on attack rolls against any creature it has surprised.
Factional Infighting. When the Vahki Nuurakh is reduced to half its hit points or fewer, there is a 5% chance it will attack another Vahki Nuurakh within range on its next turn.
Multi-Attack. The Vahki makes two attacks: two with its slam, or one with its slam and one with its Staff of Suggestion, or one with its Binding Shot.
Staff of Command (Recharge 5-6). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) psychic damage and the Vahki Nuurakh can use a one-word command as per the "Command" spell (spell save DC 14).
Binding Shot (Recharge 5-6). Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 60/120 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn.
Biped-Quadruped Transformation. As a bonus action, the Vahki can switch between its biped and quadruped forms. In quadruped form, it gains a +10 ft. speed bonus but has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws.
Ambush Tactics. If a creature the Vahki Nuurakh can see attacks a target other than itself that is within 5 feet of it, the Vahki Nuurakh can use its reaction to make a melee attack against that creature.
Description
In the molten heart of Ta-Metru, amongst the fires and forges, you'll find the Vahki Nuurakh enacting their vigilant patrols. Unlike their counterparts who revel in the chase or the fight, the Nuurakh prefer to bide their time. They embody patience like a spring-loaded trap, lying in ambush near key locations, waiting to spring their snare. Their frustration is as scalding as the molten protodermis they guard, erupting in disarray when their carefully laid plans go awry. Their Staffs of Command leave no room for interpretation: when a Nuurakh issues an order, you follow.
