Traits

Amphibious. The blackspawn raider can breathe air and water.

Lightfooted. The blackspawn raider can take the Dash or Disengage action as a bonus action on each of its turns.

Canny Defense. While the blackspawn raider is wearing light or no armor and wielding no shield, its AC includes its Intelligence modifier.

Actions

Multiattack. The blackspawn raider makes three melee attacks: one with its headbutt and two with its scimitar.

Headbutt. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage and the target must make a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Scimitar. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.

Breath Weapon (Recharge 5-6). The blackspawn raider exhales acid in a 40-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, taking 18 (4d8) acid damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.

Reactions

Opportunistic Headbutt. When an enemy within 5 feet of the blackspawn raider targets it with a melee weapon attack, the blackspawn raider can use its reaction to make a gore attack against that enemy.

Description

Blackspawn raiders are horrifying hybrid creatures, part demon, part dragon, and wholly evil. They resemble dragonborn superficially, in that they are humanoid creatures covered in a layer of dark black scales, with a pair of huge, forward sweeping horns emerging from the sides of their heads. They have long, muscular necks, which gives them a surprising range of motion with their heads, and they can lash out with snake-like quickness to smash an assailant when they least expect it. Their long, sweeping tails and webbed hands and feet make them as comfortable in the water as they are on land.

Blackspawn raiders are ambush predators who delight in hit and run tactics, favoring humanoid prey above all else. There's nothing a blackspawn raider hates more than a fair fight, and the moment a battle seems to be turning against them, they will try to flee in the hopes they can launch a new ambush later on. The secret of their creation is closely guarded by the cult of Tiamat, but it is known to involve the sacrifice of a sentient creature and requires the co-operation of a black dragon.
