Consume light. The voiding as a bonus action can consume light reducing visibility 30 ft around it.
Bright light becomes dim light and dim light becomes darkness on each use. This effect can also be used on magical sources of light.
In total darkness the Voidling counts as if it is invisible
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) [necrotic] damage.
If a creature is hit by the slam the voiding grapples onto it. A DC 12 Dex prevents the grapple. If grappled the Voidling cannot be removed until death of either creature. The grappled creatures movement speed is reduced by 5 ft and takes 2 necrotic damage on each of its turns. While latched the grappled target takes half of the damage that is dealt to the Voidling, though the Voidling still takes the full damage dealt to it.
Latch on. when hit by a melee weapon attack the Voidling can attempt to grapple the attacker. Using the same rules for the slam attack but no damage is dealt.
Description
A shifting mirage of pure darkness. That consumes light and living matter it touches. This being does not have a personality but instinctively dwells in darkness where it is nearly impossible to see until it latches onto a target. The being may sometimes change its form into the shapes of items or parts of creature that it has consumed.
People who have slain a Voidling have told tales of items rupturing from the slain creatures that are ages old and theories of possibly larger ones drifting further down in the Underdark where light is fleeting.
The Voidling will go for the closest target and not let up until the creature is out of its sight and only relies on its instincts.
