Traits

This Lich is a special kind, with no magical power, they are completely barbaric and unable to cast spells.

Blood Hunt Rage

The Lich enters a violent rage that allows it to deal double damage until it is hit by another creature. However, the Lich must draw blood once every turn or it’s rage will cease until sunrise the next day.

Legendary Resistance (3/day)

If the Lich fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Actions

Enter The Blood Hunt Rage

The Lich enters a violent rage that allows it to deal double damage until it uses its action to exit the Blood Hunt.

Berserker Greataxe

The Lich attacks with its Greataxe. +5 to hit, range 5 feet, 1 target. Hit 20(6d4) slashing damage.

Berserker Greataxe Throw

The Lich throws its Greataxe at its target. +5 to hit, range 60 feet, 1 target. Hit 25(4d8) piercing damage.

Summon Undead

The Lich uses the power of its cursed axe to summon fallen warriors to its aid. A maximum of two undead can be summoned at one time. Each summoned creature must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw and be turned from dead to undead on a failed save.

Intimidating Stare

As an action, the Lich can stare in a threatening way and make an intimidation check against anything within its sight range.

Bonus Actions

Multiattack

The Lich makes one unarmed strike and one Greataxe attack.

Absorb soul

If the Lich kills a creature with its Greataxe, it can use its bonus action to absorb their max hp to heal any damage they have taken by adding their victims max hp to their current health. This ability cannot increase the lich’s max hp but is to be used as a healing bonus action.

Reactions

If a creature misses a melee attack against the Barbarian Lich, it can use its reaction to make an attack against the creature that just missed the melee attack.

Legendary Actions

Using two of its turns, the Lich summons a death knight or a death lock to its aid. After summoning one of the above, the Barbarian Lich cannot use an action for 2 turns afterwards.

Description

This Lich is very different from the other liches that may have been encountered by the party. Instead of using magic, this barbarian uses its phylactery as a weapon, its cursed Greataxe. If the Greataxe is destroyed, the Lich will cease to exist. This barbarian has formed a hexblade-like pact with its own phylactery and has placed its soul within the cursed weapon. This weapon can come in all shapes and sizes but is usually crafted using dark magic from an artificer Lich or any other mad alchemist.

Lair and Lair Actions

A Lich will lurk in a place they loved during life, such as an abandoned tribal village, a pillaged castle or a brutally trapped crypt. They may also build their own dungeons and create their own evil and difficult traps.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the Barbarian takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the Barbarian Lich can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • The Barbarian Lich calls upon the tribal shaman that gifted them their cursed Greataxe, materialising them for one turn to attempt to harm any creature that is with 60 feet of the Lich
    Regional Effects

The region containing a legendary Barbarian Lich’s lair is usually the site of a bloody and brutal battle between two tribes or an abandoned castle that its clan raided before it was gifted the Axe of Undeath by a tribal shaman , which creates one or more of the following effects:

  • Despair: any creature within 1 mile of the Lich’s lair must make a DC15 Wisdom saving throw or have the Lich know their exact location. The creature can use their action to make another DC15 Wisdom saving throw to drop off of the Lich’s radar.

If the Barbarian Lich dies, these effects fade over the course of 3d4 days.
