It ate them... and now it's going to eat me! When the amalgam uses its consume action, all creatures within 30 feet must make a DC13 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of the amalgam for one minute. A frightened creature can repeat its saving throw at the end of its turn, ending the effect on a success.
Multiattack. The amalgam makes two crushing grab or hurl appendage attacks, one of which it can replace with an engulf attack.
Crushing grab. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d12+4) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled.
Engulf. Melee Weapon Attack: The amalgam engulfs a medium or smaller creature grappled by it. The target is restrained (escape DC 15). At the start of each an engulfed creature's turns, it takes 14 (4d6) acid damage and the amalgam heals an equal amount of hit points to the damage taken. When the amalgam moves, engulfed creatures move with it. The amalgam can engulf up to 2 medium creatures at the same time.
Hurl appendage. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 60/100ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8+4) bludgeoning damage, and the thrown appendage grabs the target, halving their movement speed until they use an action to remove it. Creature of large size or bigger do not have their speed reduced.
Consume. The amalgam absorbs a small or medium dead creature it can touch into it's body. The amalgam gains 30 hit points and its hit point maximum is increased by the same amount. The target corpse is destroyed.
Description
Amalgams are hideous creations of the evil synchrons, formed from corpses joined together and animated with necromantic magic. These hulking abominations are capable of consuming and integrating dead bodies into their own forms even during the heat of battle, making them incredibly difficult to destroy.
