Traits

Water Susceptibility. For every 5 feet the elemental moves in water, or for every gallon of water splashed on it, it takes 1 cold damage.

Magic Resistance. The Ashback Scorpion has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Familiar. The Ashback can enter into a contract to serve another creature as a familiar, forming a telepathic bond with its willing master. While the two are bonded, the master can sense what the Ashback's senses as long as they are within 1 mile of each other. While the Ashback is within 10 feet of its master, the master shares the Ashback's Magic Resistance trait. If its master causes it physical harm, the Ashback will end its service as a familiar, breaking the telepathic bond.

Actions

Sting. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 1 piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw, taking 4 (1d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If the target fails they are poisoned with Pyrotoxin for 1d4 turns.

Fiery Teleportation. The creature can teleport up to 15 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. Then each creature within 5 feet of the space that the Ashback left must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take (1d6) fire damage.

Description

In the fiery realm known as Ignas, where the flames dance and the air crackles with heat, the Ashback Scorpions reign as formidable predators, perfectly adapted to the harsh environment that surrounds them.

These scorpions have evolved unique features to survive amidst the volcanic ash and unforgiving landscape. Their exoskeleton, resembling the very substance that blankets the terrain, is a testament to their adaptation. Covered in a thick layer of gray, granular scales, the Ashback Scorpions blend seamlessly into their surroundings, their bodies virtually indistinguishable from the ashen terrain.

Their exoskeleton not only grants them a natural camouflage, but also provides a formidable layer of protection. The scales are hardened and resistant to the extreme temperatures, allowing the scorpions to navigate the blistering heat and fiery environment with ease. The ashen armor shields them from the searing flames and offers defense against potential threats.

Beneath their formidable exterior lies another lethal weapon - a venomous stinger. The Ashback Scorpions possess potent venom, crafted by nature to incapacitate and subdue their prey. The venom coursing through their stingers is a potent brew, capable of inducing paralysis or excruciating pain in their victims. It is a weapon honed by evolution and serves as a reminder of the scorpions' place in the fiery food chain.

With their stealthy movements and deadly arsenal, the Ashback Scorpions navigate the fire realm with an air of confidence and dominance. They are apex predators, their presence a testament to their ability to adapt and thrive in the harshest of environments.

Harnessing the very essence of fire, these scorpions have developed the power of fiery teleportation. With a burst of intense heat and a flicker of flames, an Ashback Scorpion can vanish from one location and reappear up to 15 feet away. This ability allows them to swiftly traverse the fiery landscape, closing in on their prey or evading potential threats with unmatched agility.

As they teleport, a brief trail of scorching embers lingers in their wake, evidence of the intense heat that accompanies their movement. This fiery teleportation not only grants them a tactical advantage, but also reflects their deep connection to the elemental forces that permeate the realm of Ignas.

Furthermore, the Ashback Scorpions possess a remarkable blindsight, extending their awareness beyond the boundaries of traditional sight. Within a radius of 30 feet, these scorpions can perceive their surroundings with an uncanny clarity, even in complete darkness or amidst billowing ash clouds. This heightened sensory perception enables them to detect subtle vibrations, heat signatures, and the movement of prey, ensuring that nothing escapes their attention.

The combination of fiery teleportation and keen blindsight makes the Ashback Scorpions formidable hunters and elusive adversaries within the fire realm. Their ability to swiftly close the distance and strike with deadly precision, all while remaining aware of their surroundings, makes them a force to be reckoned with.

Encountering an Ashback Scorpion means facing not only their powerful exoskeleton and venomous stinger, but also their elusive mobility and heightened perception. Surviving an encounter with these creatures requires not only skill and strategy, but also a deep understanding of the ever-changing nature of the fire realm and the creatures that call it home.

Pyrotoxin: 1d4 Fire damage per turn. Increasing the number of dice as each turn passes.

Upon entering the victim's bloodstream, Pyrotoxin sets their veins ablaze with an intense, searing pain. It feels as though one's very essence is being consumed by the relentless flames. This pain is not limited to the physical realm; it also extends to the elemental, as the victim's body becomes an inferno of scorching fire.

The flames conjured by Pyrotoxin are not merely illusory; they possess tangible heat and destructive power. They engulf the victim, causing immediate fire damage that intensifies with each passing moment. The searing heat burns through flesh and bone, leaving behind charred remnants in its wake.

As the flames rage within the victim's body, the fire damage inflicted by Pyrotoxin can spread, affecting nearby areas and potentially igniting objects or surroundings. The victim's agony is further compounded by the relentless assault of both physical and elemental harm.
