Hidden Slaad. When Ylem dies, a slaad tadpole bursts from their chest.

Actions

Multiattack. Ylem makes four Dagger or Sling of Seeking attack, in any order.

Dagger. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) slashing damage.

Sling of Seeking. Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 80/320 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage.

Spellcasting. Ylem casts one of the following spells, using Intellegince as its spellcasting modifier (DC 15). Whenever he does, there is a 50% chance something else occurs. Whenever he casts a spell, roll a d4, on a 1, an event from the Wild Magic table in the PHB happens instead; this does not use up that spell. On a 2, he accidentally summons a random Living Spell instead; this does use up the spell he was attempting to cast.

At will: Alarm, Color Spray

2/day each: Phantasmal Force, Feather Fall, Web

1/day each: Haste, Blindness

Description

Ylem used to be a monodrone taking part in the early-great modron march.

On its way through Limbo, it was infested by the slaad, but instead of it bursting out of him like normal, it instead froze inside him, the law and chaos between the young and the body keeping it at a standstill. This allowed Ylem to go rogue, among other things.

His form is now of a Quadrone, exactly 6 feet tall, with limbs 3 feet long each, and useless tiny wings. He has a red star tattoo carved into himself. He is very curious, and thus went to sigil to learn more. He lives in a rickety tower in the Hive Ward, occasionally leaving to learn more of the "laws" of sigil!

More recently, he has been interested in magic, and tries to learn it. But the process is slow thanks to the Slaadi influence on him. But, this influence DOES help in an odd way: It accidentally lets him conjure LIVING spells! He is DEEPLY interested in them in particular, and wants to learn how to control this power, and how to make more.
