Traits

Undead Nature: Yargle does not need to breathe, or sleep and is immune to all effects that would put him to sleep or would deal damage or cause other effects based on the need to breath such as Stinking Cloud.

Standing Leap: Yargle can long jump up to 60 feet and it can perform a standing high jump up to 40 feet, with or without a running start.

Incorporeal: Yargle can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object.

Actions

Multi-Attack: Each turn Yargle Attacks with a Bite Attack and two Claw Attacks.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 25 (4d6 +9 Necrotic damage) and the target must make a DC15 Constitution Saving Throw or have their Maximum Hit Points reduced by an equal amount and also be unable to regain hit points until the end of Yargle's next turn. Anyone looking into Yargle's mouth just sees an inky black void of nothingness and smells a powerful stench of rot.

Claw: Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 25 (4d6 +9 Slashing damage, and the target must make a DC15 Dexterity Saving Throw or be Grappled.

Swallow. When Yargle makes a bite attack against a large or smaller target it is grappling, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. The swallowed target is sent to a demi-plane called the Composted Wastes. The demi-plane is composed of decaying organic matter. The Swallowed target takes 16 (4d6) Poison damage at the start of each of Yargle's turns, and also make a DC20 Constitution Saving throw or become Poisoned and suffer a random disease form the Contagion spell. The Poisoned condition and the disease both last until cured. Should a target be reduced to zero hit points they become unconscious and make death saving throws as normal, however, if they fail 3 death saving throws their body decomposes into a sludge-like waste product and they can only be restored to life by means of a Wish spell. Yargle can only swallow a maximum of two targets per round (one with a normal bit and one with a legendary action) but there  is no limit to the number of targets that can be swallowed each day. If Yargle dies its incorporeal form dissipates, and any swallowed victims that are still alive appear in an empty space with 5ft of where Yargle died.

Legendary Actions

Attack: Yargle makes one claw attack or bite attack.
Move: Yargle moves up to half its speed.
Devour (Costs 2 Actions): Yargle can automatically swallow one grappled target without needing to make a bite attack.

Description

Yargle is a voracious ghost like entity created through a ritual.

Before the ritual starts, those involved with it select a location, this can be a grain silo, a farm, a town or even city, and place a "mark" on it or within its boundaries. This mark can be anything but is usually something easily reproducible.

The ritual itself takes place over 28 days and requires 9 levels of spell slots to be expended every day.

The first day involves a ritual circle being drawn, this includes a copy of the mark that was placed on the target location, sigils and glyphs associated with death, rot, decay and gluttony as well as a dead frog and a maggot being placed within the circle, at the end of the first day the frog animates as undead and becomes compelled to eat the maggot. Each day 1lb of food and offal is placed within the circle and the frog becomes compelled to eat it all. As each day passes and more magical power is expended to fuel the ritual, the frog begins to grow, and grow, and grow. On the 14th Day the frogs physical form decomposes and is replaced by a spectral version which still continues  to grow and consume the food placed in the ritual circle.

On the 28th day, the spectral frog (which is about 10ft wide at the culmination of the ritual) vanishes and appears at the previously marked location (even if the mark has been removed), it appears as its full 20ft tall form, once it appears it is consumed with a never ending hunger and proceeds to eat everything that is or was living. It rampages through grain and food stores, eats any and all farm animals it can grasp and will even target people if they get with grasping range. Once everything it considers food has been consumed, Yargle travels in a random direction consuming anything that is living as it goes.

In appearance, Yargle looks like a huge entity composed of frog, ape and spider like aspects. it stands 20ft tall and balances on eight spider like legs and its body and head are frog like with a huge, 15ft wide, open maw for a mouth that takes up most of lower head and body. It has two massive ape-like arms which give it a very wide reach.

The ritual to summon Yargle is rare but has been used by Druids, Clerics and Paladins of Nature gods as well as follows of malicious Archefey. The ritual can also put a restriction on Yargle's eating habits, so Yargle may be consumed with hunger but not view tress and plants as food.

Any organic matter consumed by Yargle is sent to a demi-plane known as the Composted Wastes, a realm of seemingly infinite decomposing organic matter. The may be rifts or inter-planar portals that connect to other planes but the only known methods of escape are via Plane Shift, or Wish spells or by the Yargle being destroyed.
