Traits

Aura of Terror. When a hostile creature within 5 feet of the avatar makes an attack roll or a saving throw, it has disadvantage on the roll. Creatures that are immune to the frightened condition are immune to this trait.

Brute. A melee weapon deals one extra die of its damage when the avatar hits with it (included in the attack).

Innate Spellcasting. The avatar's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 18, +10 to hit with spell attacks). The avatar can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: charm person

2/day: command (as a 3rd-level spell)

1/day each: dominate person, fist of Bane

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the avatar fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Tactical Discipline. The avatar has advantage on all ability checks and saving throws made during combat.

Actions

Multiattack. The avatar makes two Cudgel of Bane attacks. It can substitute Shield Strike for one of these attacks.

Cudgel of Bane. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (3d6 + 6) bludgeoning damage plus 27 (6d8) force damage.

Shield Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d4 + 6). If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it must succeed on a DC 19 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Bonus Actions

Aggressive. The avatar can move up to its speed toward a hostile creature that it can see.

Legendary Actions

The avatar can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The avatar regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Tyrant's Strike. The avatar makes one Cudgel of Bane attack.

Assault Orders (Costs 2 Actions). Each creature within 60 feet of the avatar that is its ally or is charmed by it must use its reaction to move up to half its speed towards a creature of the avatar's choice that it can see, provided it isn’t already within 5 feet of that creature. It then must make one melee attack against that creature if it is able to do so.

Frighten Foes (Costs 3 Actions). The avatar targets up to five creatures it can see within 30 feet of it. Each target must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of the avatar until the end of the avatar's next turn.

Description

One of three former mortals who were raised to deityhood, Bane became the god of death and tyranny. Bane has a simple ethos: the strong have not just the right but the duty to rule over the weak. When a ruler succumbs to decadence, corruption, or decrepitude, a stronger and more suitable ruler will rise. Despite being vilified in many legends most people don’t worship Bane out of malice. Bane represents ambition and control, and favors those who exhibit drive and courage. His devoted followers are warriors who seek to rule through martial strength and intimidation, enslaving those too weak to resist them and showering the strong with gifts and promises of power to turn them into loyal vassals.
