Traits

Keen Senses. The Bonehound has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Pack Tactics. The Bonehound has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of its allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.

Pounce. If the Bonehound moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the Bonehound can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.

Actions

Multiattack. The Bonehound makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its claw.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.

Bone Spike Eruption (Recharge 5-6). The Bonehound releases a burst of bone spikes from its back and arms. Each creature in a 10-foot radius sphere centered on the Bonehound must make a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw, taking 10 (3d6) piercing damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. The bone spikes retract after this attack, and the Bonehound can't use this ability again until it completes a short rest.

Pounce. If the Bonehound moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the Bonehound can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.

Reactions

Bone Armor. When the Bonehound is hit by a melee weapon attack, it can use its reaction to deal 5 (1d6 + 2) piercing damage to the attacker. If the attacker is within 5 feet, it also takes 5 (1d6 + 2) slashing damage from the bone spikes.

Description

The Bonehound is a fearsome pack creature, known for its ability to unleash a deadly eruption of bone spikes when threatened. It hunts in a pack, relying on its keen senses and pack tactics to take down prey. Its bone spikes and armor make it a formidable opponent, even though it has no skin.
