Small, brown skinned and big eared, dressed in poorly stitched clothes of cloth or mouse fur, bauchan are mischievous fey that will sometimes do chores if well rewarded, but will often move items and create messes when not pampered. They can be hot tempered, but are rarely murderous, save for those that are truly corrupted. Those are said to steal the breathe from the sleeping people.
Needle-sword. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 slashing damage.
Shortbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 40/160 ft., one target. Hit: 1 piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute. If its saving throw result is 5 or lower, the poisoned target falls unconscious for the same duration, or until it takes damage or another creature takes an action to shake it awake. It will not awaken from a stolen breath action.
Hop, flap, and Scurry. The bauchan can transform as a bonus action into a frog, bat, or rat. It has 5 hp in that form and gains all special traits of the form. If the form is killed, the Bauchan reverts back to its normal form (no damage carries over) and cannot transform back into that particular form until the next full moon.
Steal Sleeper's Breath. Once per day the Bauchan can steal the breath from a sleeping target. This will not awaken the target and it will reduce the targets maximum HP by 1d4. The target will not restore these HP until the Bauchan is killed or they are treated with a lesser or greater restoration. The Bauchan will gain those stolen HP as temporary HP.
Description
The Bauchan has resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piecing, or slashing attacks.
However it is vulnerable to items made of cold iron or from the claws of a cat.
If a cat is present, the Bauchan must make a wisdom saving throw against fear at DC 20 or become frightened until it can neither see or hear the cat.
