Traits

Siphoning Aura. The creature emits a constant aura pulls the souls of living creatures into its chest within a 5ft. radius.Creatures that enter the radius for the first time or start their turn there must succeed a Con 16 saving throw or suffer 4d8 necrotic damage and healing it for half the amount. This ability is lost upon falling under 30% hitpoints and cannot be restored.

 

Hands of The Damned. Upon falling to 30% of it's max health, it's chest rips open unveiling 4 long spectral arms that drag the Abyssal Collector towards the closest creatures.If it fails to attack a creature before the start of it's next turn, it'll attack itself with it's spectral claws tearing itself apart. These are considered the hands of the souls it contains, so the hands can be flavored accordingly.

Actions

Multiattack: The creature makes two tentacle attacks or 4 spectral claw attacks.

Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, 5ft. Reach 5 ft., one target, Hit: (2d6+3) bludgeoning, and the target it grappled (escape DC 15). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained.The creature has 3 tentacles, each of which can grapple a creature.

Grasping Wail (3 turn CD). The souls in it's chest start churning into a vortex that sends out a pulling force in the form of ghostly hands. Creatures in a 30ft. radius must succeed a (Str. 15) saving throw or be pulled towards the creature 20ft. taking (2d10) force damage.

Darkening Veil (2/long rest). The Abyssal Collector weaves a magical darkness up to 30ft. away from itself  in a 20ft. radius. It lasts for 3 turns. and can be seen through by the creature.

Spectral Claw (Hands of The Damned only). Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, Reach 10 ft., One target, Hit (1d4+3) bludgeoning damage. The Abyssal Collector heals half the damage dealt to another creature.

Bonus Actions

Siphon (only grappled creatures). The Abyssal Collector's tentacles tighten on the creature draining life force from them. The creature must succeed a (Con 16) saving throw or suffer (2d8) necrotic damage. The Abyssal Collector heals for half the damage dealt.

Reactions

Ephemeral Blink (3/day). If the Abyssal Collector would be hit by a ranged attack from a target withing 60ft. of itself that it can see, it teleports to the attacking creature leaving behind a misty illusion of itself that takes the hit.

Description

When a mortal signs an infernal contract with a devil, sometimes they don't hold up their end of the contract. Powerful devils have these as pets that fetch the mortals soul.

 

A demonic entity that pulls and holds souls in the cavity of it's chest. An entity with a disciplined tracking instinct carved into their minds to track down contract breakers and drag their souls back to the Abyssal fires of the underworld.

 

Tentacles that protrude out the mouths from where hands would be. Tentacles in bundles where a face might be. All balancing atop a tripod like lower half that stakes the terrain it stands on. A view of the souls residing within in constant agony and pain scraping and clawing at the veil that binds them within.
