Shapechanger. The slaad can use its action to polymorph into a Small or Medium humanoid, or back into its true form. Its statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn’t transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies
Slaad Trinket. The slaad carries a randomly acquired trinket. Attacks made with it are considered magical and can deal another damage type in place of force damage (DM's choice). The trinket returns to its native dimension when the slaad dies.
Innate Spellcasting. The slaad’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 13). The slaad can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: dimension door, find the path, mage hand
1/day each: otto's irresistible dance, scatter, reverse gravity
Magic Resistance. The slaad has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Regeneration. The slaad regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point.
Multiattack. The slaad makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws or trinket bash. Alternatively, it uses its trinket beam twice.
Bite (Slaad Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) piercing damage.
Claw (Slaad Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.
Trinket Bash. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) bludgeoning damage.
Trinket Beam. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 60 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (3d6) force damage.
Wild Magic Surge. Whenever another creature within 30 feet of the slaad casts a spell of 1st level or higher, the slaad can use its reaction to impulsively cause a surge of chaotic energy. The target must roll a d100 on the Wild Magic Surge table. On a roll of 99–00, the target gains the effects of the invulnerability spell for 1 minute instead of regaining sorcery points.
Description
Chaotic Biology. Despite generally sharing the same basic, if baffling, appearance, slaadi were nonetheless creatures of chaos and so no two were exactly identical. Even within their own breeds, they varied in every way. While some classified slaads by color, slaads of the same breed could vary not only in their exact shade and pattern but also be of the opposite color entirely. Regarding the study of slaad a wise man once said: "I've spent my life classifying Slaads, and what I've learned the most, is that I miss my children."
Other potential differences included additional body parts and organs, features of greater or lesser size, and wholly unique features like horns, tails and hair. More outlandish traits, such as wings whether functional or not, and even a medusa's snake-like hair, were also fully possible. Moreover, Slaad were just as likely to be naked as they were to be found fully clothed, some even dressing quite dapperly with plenty of drip.
Slaad Magic. Some Slaadi inherit magical abilities, some are spawned with innate powers; some study the magic of Limbo for years, and some are bitten by a unstable chaos spider that imbues them with magical power and a strong sense of responsibility.
With the right eclectic knowledge and enough gumption to ignore the risks, magic adept slaadi can begin to unravel the nature of Limbo and even wield one of the great primordial powers of the multiverse. Slaadi have been known to develop unique spells and abilities that allow them to traverse and survive in this chaotic realm. They adapt their magical abilities to suit the ever-changing circumstances and challenges they encounter in Limbo, using their mastery over magic to manipulate the environment, protect themselves, and play questionable pranks.
