Illumination. In its true form, the archon sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light in an additional 20 feet.
Shapechanger. As an action, an archon can assume the form of a Small or Medium size creature, such as a fox, small dog, wolf, or similar beast, or back to its true form. Other than it’s size, it’s statistics are the same in each form.
Magic Resistance. The archon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Familiar. The archon can enter into a contract to serve another creature as a familiar, forming a telepathic bond with its willing master. While the two are bonded, the master can sense what the archon senses as long as they are within 1 mile of each other. If its master violates the terms of the contract, the archon can end its service as a familiar, ending the telepathic bond.
In combat, a familiar rolls its own initiative and acts on its own turn. A familiar can't attack, but it can take other actions as normal. When a familiar drops to 0 hit points, it disappears, leaving behind no physical form.
Ephemeral. The archon can’t wear or carry anything.
Attack Restriction. A familiar can't attack, but it can take other actions as normal.
Light Ray. Ranged Spell Attack: +5 to hit, range 30 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) radiant damage.
Innate Spellcasting. The archon's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 12). The archon can innately cast the following spells, without requiring any components:
At will: invisibility (self only)
Description
Archons are natives to outer planes associated with lawful good deities. Such faiths proclaim that the souls of faithful followers will be incarnated as archons in the afterlife. Similarly, these religions say through bravery and good works, archons can ascend to higher forms.
Kind but Brave. Archons are almost universally friendly and compassionate. Some mistake this for naivete and try to take advantage of their kindness, but archons are nobody’s dupe, and refuse to be used for evil. They abhor violence, but when they see no other choice, will fight bravely.
Servants of the Gods. Most archons spend their entire existence on the outer planes. Those who find their way to the material plane are often called by faithful servants of their patron deity, and some even form long-term bonds with pious adventurers.
