Traits

Firearms Mastery. Armanda has proficiency with all firearms and ignores the loading property for firearms. In addition, attacking at long range with a firearm doesn’t impose disadvantage on her attack rolls.

Sneak Attack. Armanda knows how to strike subtly and exploit a foe’s distraction. Once per turn, you can deal an extra 10 (3d6) damage to one creature you hit with an attack if you have advantage on the attack roll. The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon. You don’t need advantage on the attack roll if another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy isn’t incapacitated, and you don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll.

Rakish Audacity. Give yourself a +1 bonus to your initiative rolls. You also gain an additional way to use your Sneak Attack; you don’t need advantage on the attack roll to use your Sneak Attack against a creature if you are within 5 feet of it, no other creatures are within 5 feet of you, and you don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll. All the other rules for Sneak Attack still apply to you.

Observant. If you can see a creature's mouth while it is speaking a language you understand, you can interpret what it's saying by reading its lips. You have a +5 bonus to your passive Perception and passive Investigation scores.

Actions

Multiattack. The giff makes two Saber, Crossbow, or Blunderbuss attacks.

Horde Breaker. Once on each of your turns when you make a weapon attack, you can make another attack with the same weapon against a different creature that is within 5 ft. of the original target and within range of your weapon.

Saber of Enmity. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (3d6 + 6) slashing damage and must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or fall prone.

Crossbow, Hand. Ranged Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (3d6 + 5) piercing damage.

Blunderbuss. Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, range 15/60 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (4d8 + 3) piercing damage. Upon a hit, everything within 5 ft of the target must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 15) or suffer 1d8 fire damage. If the weapon misses, the ammunition fails to detonate, or bounces away harmlessly before doing so. Whenever you make an attack roll with the firearm, and the dice roll is equal to or lower than 4, the weapon misfires. The attack misses, and the weapon cannot be used again until you spend an action to try and repair it. Creatures who use a firearm without being proficient increase the weapon’s misfire score by 1.

Reactions
Uncanny Dodge. When an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to halve the attack’s damage against you.
Legendary Actions

Admiral's Fury. Once per turn, when Armanda hits a target with a simple or martial weapon, you can cause the target to take an additional +4 force damage. You can use this feature 4 times per long rest.

Description

It’s easy to spot giff in a room: these burly folk are 7-foot-tall, hippopotamus-headed people. In Wildspace and the associated ports, giff are most often encountered as spacefaring mercenaries. These troops are renowned for their martial training, and love of explosives and are typically armed with gleaming pistols and muskets. The stat block here represents one of those mercenaries.
