Keen Smell. The tiger has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Pounce. If the Smilodon moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the tiger can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.
Arctic Predator. The Arctic Smilodon has adapted to the Frozen Tundra. In an arctic environment, the Smilodon has :
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d10 + 5) piercing damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) slashing damage.
Ice Fangs (Recharge 5 or 6). When the Arctic Smilodon successfully makes a Bite attack, it can attempt to freeze the bitten creature. The target of the attack must make a Constitution saving through DC 13 at the start of their turn:
- On the first failure, they become restrained
- On the second failure, they take 7 (2d6) cold damage and are paralyzed
- On the third failure, they take 14 (4d6) cold damage and are petrified.
On a successful saving throw, the effect ends and the creature is immune to it for the next 24 hours. Creatures immune to cold are immune to the effect.
A creature petrified in this way can be brought back to life via specific potions or spells such as Greater Restoration. Alternatively, if they are brought in a warm environment within the first hour of their petrification and remains there for 24 hours, they slowly unfreeze over the course of the day. They take one point of exhaustion.
Description
The Smilodon is an indigenous predator of the Mysts predating the Collapse. Over the centuries of isolation on the floating continent, they were slowly transformed by the constant elemental energy seeping from the land. Today, variant species adapted to the various environments of the Mysts can be encountered while travelling across the continent.
The Arctic Smilodons have attuned to the cold and subdued colours of the Tundra. Their fur turned a mixture of grey and white with light blue strips that makes them difficult to spot in the snow or the short grass of the steppes. Infused by the magical flow of land, they can now channel cold energy in their bite in order to freeze their prey.
