Description
In the shadowed depths of the Underdark, a once peaceful myconid colony has fallen victim to a sinister transformation, a consequence of the corrupting touch of an aboleth's vile influence. Where once a passive and symbiotic relationship between the myconids and the fungal growth flourished, a nightmarish fusion has taken root.
The myconid creature, once a guardian of the delicate equilibrium between the fungi and the Underdark ecosystem, now bears the unmistakable mark of the aboleth's intrusion. The fungal growth, once a benign lifeform that contributed to the balance of the subterranean world, has been twisted into a predatory force by the aboleth's malevolent presence.
Driven by an insatiable hunger for nutrients, the myconid creature now seeks to absorb the life essence of the surrounding environment. The once symbiotic relationship has devolved into a parasitic one, as the corrupted myconid creature stretches its tendrils to drain the vitality from both the living and the decaying remnants of the Underdark.
Lair and Lair Actions
Bofu's lair is the heart of a fungal-infested chapel, a colossal growth acts as a nesting egg. Massive fungal tendrils cover the walls and there seems to be a pulse connected with the massive growth outwards the the corridors of the forgotten chapel.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Bofur Steelhand takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects:
- A cloud of choking spores fills a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on a point Bofur chooses within 120 feet of it. The choaking spores spreads around corners and remains until Bofur dismisses it as an action, uses this lair action again, or dies. The cloud is lightly obscured. While a creature is in the cloud they are silenced. A creature that ends its turn in the cloud takes 14 (4d6) poison damage.
