False Appearance. While the tree remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal tree.
Spores. The black willow produces spores in a 20ft area. Any creature that enters or ends its turn in the area must succeed on a DC 12 Wisdom save. On failure the target falls unconscious and won’t wake up unless it takes damage. On success the target is immune to the sleep effect until its next long rest but does suffer a point of exhaustion.
Consume. The black willow can attempt to drag one creature it has grappled into its maw. The target must succeed on a Dexterity save (DC 14) or be swallowed by the creature. Consumed targets take 2d4 acid damage at the beginning of their turn.
Multiattack. A black willow makes 4 attacks, either with its Slam attack or its Tendrils attack.
Slam. Melee weapon attack: +6 to hit, reach 15ft., one target. Hit: 3d6+4 bludgeoning damage.
Tendrils. Melee Weapon attack: +6 to hit, reach 15ft., one target. Hit: If the target is Medium or smaller, it is grappled (escape DC 14) and restrained until the grapple ends.
Description
A Black Willow is an ambulatory carnivorous tree that is indistinguishable from its mundane kin.
Similar to normal willows, a Black Willow can be found near large quantities of water. The Black Willow will lay in wait for prey to climb onto a safe-looking limb or take shelter under the canopy, waiting for its spores to take effect.
Black Willows rarely remain in the same locale for more than a few weeks unless prey is plentiful. Black Willows quickly drive off other predators and disrupt an area's natural ecosystem.
