Description

The Lightning Leopard is a rare and powerful beast, that channels lightning throughout its body. They are found in forests, jungles and occasionally can be spotted in plains. Despite their name, they actually have zero relation to leopards and are closer to lions and tigers.

Due to Lightning Leopards large size, they need to eat twice as much as other lions and tigers. However, Lightning Leopards find it easier to steal cattle, pigs and other farm animals from towns near the forests. Because of this, they are often hunted by the farmers or even town guard, who prosecute the Lightning Leopard stealing their food.

In addition, Lightning Leopard’s powerful lightning Magic makes them highly sought after by nobles and mercenaries alike. Mercenaries use their coats as a shield against lightning and thunder, from other dangerous magical beasts, and nobles enjoy and delight in tasting their meat, a delicacy among nobles.

Because of the two reasons above, Lightning Leopards are exceedingly rare, and a fully grown Lightning Leopard can sell for upwards of 500 gold in the black markets.

Lightning Leopards normally have litters ranging from 2-5 cubs, each on having a 3 year maturation period. But because of the constant hunting, female Lightning Leopards are often left without their mates, meaning that they have to go hunt, and risk their litter being eaten by another animal, or stolen by humans.

Baby Lightning Leopards are much weaker then adult Lightning Leopards, and cannot activate their magic at will. Even so, they are incredibly valuable as they can grow into adult Lightning Leopards for massive profits.

Some tribes of orcs, and even goblins, go out looking for Lightning Leopard cubs if they hear even a hint of one in the neighbouring woods. They do this in order to tame the Lightning Leopard, and turn it into a powerful tool. Orcs like to turn it into a mount, for their most glorious of warriors to ride. Goblins on the other hand? Goblins normally fail to get Lightning Leopard cubs, as the mother of the cubs normally stops them if they get caught, or hunt them down if they succeed. If they can get away however, they can do many things to it. Eat it, tame it, sell it, butcher it. The list goes on.
