Traits

Best of both worlds: Due to his fighting experience combined with his draconic strength, Alistar's melee attacks can bypass non-magical bludgeoning resistance of his targets, but only if his attack roll beats the targets armor class by 8 or more.

Example: If targets AC=17 and Alistar rolls 17 on his attack roll, he ignores the targets bludgeoning resistance.

Curse of persistence: At the end of each combat round, Alistar rolls 3d6+4 and heals for the resulting sum. If he loses a limb (Arm or leg) he will eventually regenerate the lost body part will regenerate in minimum of 2 combat rounds (Depends on the DM and how serious the damage is). This, however, does not concern his horns, which can not regrow if broken or cut.

"Round 2": If after at the start of his or at the end of another creatures turn Alistar's HP is bellow "2", he heals for 12d12+31 and enters "Round 2" which enhances his attacks and his AC becomes 17. "Round 2" also enhances his actions and recharges his "Fire Breath immediately. He can not enter round to for 7 days after use. In this 7 day period his maximum health is equal to the amount he healed when entering "Round 2". After entering "Round 2" Alistar attacks before all other creatures in combat, ignoring initiative rolls.

Actions

RelentlessAlistar can make up to 3 attacks: 2 melee and 1 bite/breath attack, unless the latter are not ready.

Draconic strength:  +8 to hit, reach 5 feet, 1 target. Alistar delivers an unarmed strike on 1 target within melee range, dealing 2d8+4 bludgeoning damage. Alistar ignores nonmagical bludgeoning damage if he is in "Round 2" and his melee attacks deal 1d6 fire damage.

Teeth like steel: +8 to hit, reach up 15 feet. Alistar uses his sharp teeth and jaw strength to quickly bite a target, if they are within 15 feet he could lunge at them to deliver the attack. The target must make a DEX saving throw. If successful, they take half damage, If they fail, they take 3d8+6 piercing damage and 1d6 fire damage, on top of this, Alistar now has a firm hold on the hit target (grappled). Alistar has to release the target from his jaws if he wishes to move or attack anybody else. Alistar can not use this attack on the same target twice in a row. During "Round 2" the fire damage becomes 2d6 and he can.

Fire breath ( Recharge 5-6). reach of 30 feet in a 5 by 30 line, 15 feet in a cone. Alistar breaths out fire ( self explanatory). Those in range must make a DC 17 DEX saving throw, taking 40 (10d8) fire damage if they fail the save and half if they succeed. While in "Round 2", the attacks ranges become 45 feet in a 6 by 45 line,  25 feet in a cone and the recharge for the attack becomes 4-6.

Reactions

Machiavellian Strike: During "Round 2", once every combat turn, Alistar can cover the area of his body being attacked with red scales, absorbing all damage and gaining the chance to deliver a melee attack of opportunity which deals its own damage and half of the damage he would have suffered as force damage.

Example: If Alistar is hit with an attack dealing 12 damage, he can use the reaction to deal 2d8+4+1d6 fire damage from his melee attack and 6 force damage.

Description

A young man with soft facial features and long blonde hair. 2 white horns extend from his forehead in a straight line at first, then curve upwards. Starting from his wrists and ankles, his hands and feet become more and more covered in red scales, until they become fully covered in scales from his knuckles onward. Apart from the horns and some scales, he looks like a normal, although skinny human with slight muscle definition.

Similar to true dragons, he is prideful and hedonistic, but not outright evil and has a much better mood. He will greet those that come to take his life or simply speak with him in a polite yet playful manner, as he is confident in his own strength and can come off as cocky. Though, his arrogance is not completely misplaced, since he is functionally immortal because of his traits. ( Player characters will still receive XP despite this fact if they "make him yield" or defeat him after he uses his "Round 2"). It seems no matter how much damage his body takes, eventually it will always regenerate. Curiously, the regeneration, if the damage is so severe not even his head is left, will start from his horns. One might assume this trait makes him undefeatable, but Alistar's body has quite a major weakness. Because of his enhanced senses, he feels far greater pain than any other human, which can lead to situations where he has to bargain or, reluctantly, flee.

Alistar is not opposed to solving things in a peaceful manner and would rather discourage his enemies from engaging with him since he likes the company of others, which has become a rare commodity for him, considering the rumors around him and his past. One of these rumors, that of him being a young paladin in the past, is in fact true. As to how he ended up this way, (Up to the DM really but I like this version) some say Alistar was the first son of an accomplished paladin who made a name for herself by slaying dragons and destroying their eggs. In retribution, one of the dragons that she killed, in his last moments, cursed the paladin, saying her firstborn would bear the characteristics of a dragon. Yet, Alistar was born a healthy boy with no such features. During his teen years, under his mothers training, he quickly picked up the skills of a paladin and even excelled at them. Then, on his 18th birthday, as Alistar was walking through the main square of his city, the curses effects were enacted, as he was encompassed by a pillar of flame, melting off his armor and clothes. When the flames dissipated, there stood Alistar, red scales on the ends of his limbs, white horns on his head and a tail extending from his spine. Witnesses screamed at the sight and called guards, saying a demon had appeared in the city. The young man was quickly encircled by armed men pointing weapons at him, who quickly recognized him as Alistar. His mother was in the group of these men, in fact, he seemed to be leading them, who now, after so many years, remembered that dragons dying words. Alistar pleaded to his father for help, confused and afraid, not knowing what happened to him. His words fell on deaf ears, as his own mother gave the order to seize him. Taken to a dungeon and given no trial, Alistar spent years either in a heavily guarded cell, or tied up in a lab, being experimented on, his own mother sometimes overseeing these tests.. His biology was studied extensively. At first, the examinations were simple, cutting his flesh and testing if he had similar resistances to regular dragons. It was quickly discovered that he regenerated from any and all wounds and did not seem to age. His sensitivity to pain was also easily found out, as the examinations became more thorough and they dug deeper into his flesh, Alistar's screaming grew louder and louder, reaching deafening sounds that ruptured the scientists eardrums. It was decided that before every examination and experiment his vocal cords would be severed as to avoid this problem, although, they quickly regenerated. Whenever not being examined, Alistar was kept in a near freezing temperature cell with reinforced steel walls and door, this was done after one of the scientists accidently "discovered" his fire breath when cutting his vocal cord. After this incident, they decided weld a piece of metal onto his mouth to avoid further casualties. While his body was tough, his horns were especially durable, and extremely sensitive. It was discovered that the horns themselves were the source of his regenerative capabilities, and so, the next logical step for Alistar's captors was to destroy the horns. Large heavy loads were dropped on them, saws were used in n attempt to cut through them,  lava was poured on them, they were frozen and struck with hammers. Yet, the loads shattered, saws dulled, the lava cooled and the hammers smashed, not a scratch was left on the horns, and Alistar felt all of it. This went on for years, until his execution was officially ordered by the city. They figured that a powerful blade of great magic, wielded by an individual of great strength could break his horns. So this duty fell to the strongest man which they could find, which so happened to be Alistar's own mother. On the day of the public execution, as Alistar's head was placed on the chopping block, he was granted the right to speak his last and the piece of metal welded to his mouth was removed. After the flesh grotesquely grew, he looked at his mother, his executioner, the one who gave him life, and the one who was going to end it. One last time he pleaded for help, to be freed and allowed to live. The woman raised an ornate, shining blade, entrusted to her by the people of the city, for a moment she hesitated, then brought the blade down Alistar's horns. For years, imprisoned underground, Alistar spent his days either having his flesh cut and regrown, all the while crying out for help and salvation that was not coming, or in a dark, cold cell, alone and forgotten, where his hatred for paladins and all that he once served and protected slowly grew. Yet he hoped that his own mother would show him mercy and protest against his execution. And as his own mother ignored her own sons last words and swung her blade, she sliced through that sliver of hope, and only spite was left in the young man. In the last moment, before the blade made contact, Alistar turned his head, so that only 1 horn would be struck. When the blade made contact, a blinding light began to emanate from that very spot, quickly followed by agonized screams of Alistar. This went on for a few seconds, until finally, small cracks began to appear on the horn. The blade shattered. Using this chance, Alistar attempted to force his way out of the chains binding him, and although the chains did not give, his arms did. He looked down at his mother, who fell in front of the chopping block after the blade broke. His face only expressed disappointment and sadness. He was quickly surrounded by armed men,  even a few paladins. Last time this happened, he willingly surrendered. Now, after suffering at these peoples hands, he would do no such thing. His arms slowly but surely regrew, and with tooth and claw, kick and punch, he tore through them all and disappeared into the forests around the city.
