Traits

Abyssal Fury. When reduced to half its hit point maximum or below, the abyssal giant enters a catastrophic rage for 1d4 hours. While enraged, the abyssal giant has advantage on melee attack rolls, but attack rolls against it have advantage. The abyssal giant is hostile to any non-abyssal giant it can see as long as it is enraged, and if the abyssal giant can’t see a non-abyssal giant to attack, then it searches for one.

Magic Resistance. The abyssal giant has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Actions

Multiattack. The abyssal giant makes two Claw attacks.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d8 + 8) slashing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 17 Charisma saving throw or be cursed. The curse lasts until it is lifted by remove curse or similar magic. The creature's flesh is twisted by demonic energy while it is cursed, causing the creature to be unable to regain hit points. A creature that succeeds on the saving throw against the curse is immune to it for the next 24 hours.

Rock. Ranged Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, range 60/240 ft., one target. Hit: 30 (4d10 + 8) bludgeoning damage.

Bonus Actions

Aggressive. The abyssal giant moves up to its speed toward an enemy that it can see.

Reactions

Vengeful Fury. In response to being hit by a melee attack, the abyssal giant can make one Claw attack against the attacker.

Description

Countless years ago, a group of giants were banished to the abyss for their terrible crimes against the world. Though they went mad, the giants managed to survive in that foul realm and has since then created a new kin of giant, the abyssal giant. With each new specimen, the giant's forms were more twisted and corrupt, taking on many aspects of demonic creatures. The abyss's influence grew stronger with the passing ages, gradually transforming the giants into demonic horrors. The abyssal giants have grown in number throughout the years, and have established themselves throughout the infinite layers of the abyss as a demonic race.

Physical Appearance.

Abyssal giants resemble regular giants in form, but are twisted and cruel mockeries of everything related to giants. The fiendish giants possess many demonic features, their bodies are covered in a bony shell similar to a insectoid carapace, and they have razor sharp teeth, cruel horns that protrude from their skull, and a pair of hollow eyes.

Abyssal Nomads.

Abyssal giants act as primitive hunters of the abyss and usually live in small groups, though at times abyssal giants may form larger warbands. The abyssal giant culture is relatively primal, the strongest lead while the weak follow, and all other lifeforms than abyssal giants are prey. Strangely enough, abyssal giants are relatively friendly towards one another, and show compassion even to the weaker members of a tribe, though weaker members still have lower status in the abyssal giant hierarchy.

Demonic Rage.

Abyssal giants are twisted, corrupt beings that are slaves by their own abyssal nature and depraved desires. While they can be conversed with, abyssal giants are often described as dim witted, wrathful creatures that have a catastrophic temper. Any slight against the giant could cause it to enter an all consuming rage that lasts for hours. In this state, abyssal giants mindlessly attack any they see and destroy anything they can get their claws on, the only thing that can calm an abyssal giant in this state is another abyssal giant.
