Amphibious: The Ocean Drake can breathe both air and water.

Water Form: The Ocean Drake can enter a hostile creature's space and stop there. It can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.

Elemental Magic Affinity (Water): The Ocean Drake can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

  • At will: shape water, create or destroy water
  • 3/day each: control water, ice storm
  • 1/day: tsunami
Actions

Multiattack: The Ocean Drake makes one bite and two claw attacks.

Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (2d10 + 9) piercing damage.

Claw: Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d6 + 9) slashing damage.

Whip Tail: Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d8 + 9) bludgeoning damage.

Water Blast (Recharge 5-6): The Ocean Drake exhales a blast of pressurized water in a 90-foot line that is 10 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 20 Strength saving throw, taking 58 (13d8) bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Additionally, on a failed save, creatures are pushed up to 20 feet away from the Ocean Drake and knocked prone.

Legendary Actions

The Ocean Drake can take 3 legendary actions, selecting from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Ocean Drake regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Detect: The Ocean Drake makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.

Tail Swipe (Costs 2 Actions): The Ocean Drake makes a whip tail attack.

Drench (Costs 3 Actions): The Ocean Drake releases a torrent of water in a 30-foot radius centered on itself. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw or be subjected to the effect of the control water spell for 1 minute (as though cast by the Ocean Drake), which attempts to grapple and restrain the creature with water. A creature restrained by the water can use its action to make a DC 20 Strength or Dexterity check (its choice), freeing itself on a success.

Description

The Ocean Drake is a majestic and elusive creature, a living embodiment of the ocean's vast and mysterious power. With scales that shimmer like the sunlit sea and eyes as deep as the abyss, these magnificent beings patrol the depths and shallows alike, sovereigns of all they survey in their watery domain.

Masters of the elemental water magics, Ocean Drakes shape the tides and command the waves, calling forth storms and calming seas with but a thought. They are one with the water, and ancient tales tell of Ocean Drakes who merge with the sea to become indistinguishable from it, their bodies flowing like liquid or crashing with the force of a great wave.

While their presence on land is a rare and awe-inspiring event, they are most at home beneath the waves, where they swim with the grace of a current and the force of a tempest. Their roars are the crashing of waves, and their breath is the torrential downpour of squalls. Mariners pay homage to these dragons, for to draw the ire of an Ocean Drake is to court disaster at sea. Yet, for those who earn their favor or respect, an Ocean Drake may bestow blessings of fair winds and following seas.

To behold an Ocean Drake is to witness the ocean's heart: wild, free, and fathomless. Theirs is a song of ancient depths and eternal tides, a hymn of a world both beautiful and unforgiving—a reminder that the sea, like the dragons that dwell within it, is a force of nature that demands both respect and reverence.
