Shapechanger. The blomper can use its action to polymorph into a small or tiny creature native to the area it was found in, or back into its true form, which is small monstrosity. Its statistics, other than its AC, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Imperfect Mimicry. A creature may make a DC16 Wisdom (Perception), or a DC14 Wisdom (Nature) check (If they are proficient) to deduce the nature of the creature while it is in its animal form. The creature, if successful will identify one or more features of the polymorphed creature that do not match the specifics of the species.
Bite (Monster Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d8+1) Piercing Damage, and attaches to the target. A creature, including the target can use its action to detach the blomper.
Claw (Monster Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4+1) Slashing Damage.
Detonate (Monster Form Only). As an action, the blomper can detonate into a burst of arcane energy. Each creature within 5ft. of it must make a DC 10 dexterity saving thrown, taking 12 (2d8 + 4) magical (force) damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. A creature that the blomper is attached to, automatically fails the save. This kills the detonating creature.
Bite the Hand That Feeds. If attacked, or threatened while in its animal form the creature can use its reaction to quickly morph into it's monster form and make a Bite attack with disadvantage.
Description
The blomper is native to Pippity. It is a vicious predator, and prefers to lull its victims in with an unassuming appearance at first, and when attacked or threatened, will morph into its monstrous form and attack. The appearance the Blomper takes is usually a small animal that normally resides in that area, as it attempts to blend in. When a predator attempts to attack it, they will then ambush it in return. They mainly prey on larger predators in the area, in order to get food for their group. In matters of defense, some members of the blomper group will detonate in order to ward off threats the small creatures are unable to take on.
Blompers are wary of the humanoid species and will avoid them, unless the community contains members of the larger subspecies which can do some actual damage to the settlements, and not surrender their life in doing so.
