Traits

Aura of Decay. Creatures within 30 feet of Atticus have disadvantage on Constitution saving throws.

Magic Resistance. Atticus has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Legendary Resistance (4/Day). If Atticus fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Actions

Multiattack. Atticus makes one Plagued Touch attack or uses Spellcasting. He also uses Army of Flies if available.

Plagued Touch. Melee or Ranged Spell Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 60 ft., one target. Hit: 32 (6d8 + 5) acid damage plus 31 (7d8) necrotic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 19 Constitution saving throw or receive one level of exhaustion.

Army of Flies (Recharge 5–6). Atticus exhales poisonous insects and vile gas in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 19 Constitution saving throw, taking 45 (10d8) cold damage and 45 (10d8) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Those who fail the save also lose their ability to cast spells or use magical abilities until the start of Atticus' next turn, and those who fail by 5 or more are also silenced for 1 minute.

A silenced creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Miasma of Death (1/Day). Atticus exudes a killing mist in a 30-foot-radius sphere centered on himself. The sphere spreads around corners, and its area is heavily obscured. The mist lasts until the start of Atticus' next turn, and it can’t be dispersed by wind. It does not move with him.

Each creature that enters the miasma for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there must make a DC 19 Constitution saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) necrotic damage and 28 (8d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature killed by this damage becomes an undead under Atticus' control. The undead creature (DM's discretion) acts on Atticus' initiative but immediately after his turn. Absent any other command, the zombie tries to kill any non-Undead creature it encounters.

Spellcasting. Atticus casts one of the following spells, requiring no material components and using Intelligence as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 19):

At will: detect magic, dispel magic, see invisibility

2/day each: animate dead (as an action), speak with dead

1/day each: antimagic field, finger of death, harm, plane shift (self only)

Reactions

Atticus can take up to three reactions per round but only one per turn.

Repulsive Counterspell. Atticus fires his "cure" to interrupt a creature he can see within 60 feet of himself that is casting a spell. If the spell is 4th level or lower, it fails and has no effect. If the spell is 5th level or higher, Atticus makes an Intelligence check (DC 10 + the spell’s level). On a successful check, the spell fails and has no effect. Whatever the spell’s level, the caster takes 10 (3d6) necrotic damage if the spell fails.

Near-Death Experience. In response to being hit by an attack, Atticus teleports, along with any equipment he is wearing or carrying, up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space he can see.
