Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) piercing damage and 4 (1d6 + 1) fire damage; and the target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw, taking 9 (2d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

If the poison damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, the target is stable but poisoned for 1 hour, even after regaining hit points, and is paralyzed while poisoned in this way.

Bonus Actions

Ethereal Jaunt. As a bonus action, the spider can magically shift from the Material Plane to the Ethereal Plane, or vice versa.

Description

The Azureblaze Shadowspinner is a haunting arachnid that dwells in the spaces between light and darkness. Its carapace gleams with an ethereal blue flame that casts eerie shadows, even in the absence of light. About the size of a small horse, the Shadowspinner moves with a prowling grace, unheard and often unseen until it is too late. Its eight eyes glimmer with a cold intelligence, watching from the darkness before it strikes.

The appearance of an Azureblaze Shadowspinner often heralds a dark turn in the story. It is a creature of omens, and its presence might be tied to an ancient curse or a rift in the fabric of reality between the planes. It could guard a powerful artefact or serve as the terrifying guardian to a portal leading to the Shadowfell or another plane of existence.
