Traits

Protector. If the guardian is within 60 feet of an Academy Member, half of any damage the Academy Member takes (rounded up) is transferred to the guardian.

Actions

Multiattack. The guardian makes two fist attacks.  If both attacks hit, the target is Grappled (escape DC 15).

Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage.

Nullify. The guardian chooses a friendly academy mage within 60 feet. For each spell of level X or below affecting the mage, the guardian may choose to end that spell, where X is the mage’s Intelligence modifier. The guardian then takes 1d6 force damage for each level of spell nullified.

Reactions

Guardian Shield (1/day). In reaction to an academy member within 30 ft going below half its HP, the Guardian casts Resilient Sphere that academy member.

Description

Academy Guardian

The Academy Guardian is a magically animated protective construct. The Academy keeps a handful of these constructs available for use by apprentices and journeymen going on field expeditions. As part of receiving their 5th ring and being granted the title of Master Mage, many mages will craft their own guardian as a rite of passage and a practical defensive measure. The guardian prioritizes staying near its charge to ensure its Protector feature is active and attacks melee attackers that are approaching its charge to grapple them. As soon as its charge is reduced to half HP, it uses the Guardian Shield to protect its charge. If one of its charges is affected by a debilitating spell or effect, it uses Nullify to end that effect.
