Spellcasting. The Skeleton Mage is a 2nd-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intellegence (spell save DC 13, +5 to hit with spell attacks). The Skeleton Mage has following Wizard spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): chill touch, mage hand, blade ward
1st level (3 slots): fog cloud, silvery barbs, magic missile, mage armor
Dagger. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (1d4+2) piercing damage.
Description
Sometimes when a skeleton is reanimate it retains some of its intelligence and remembers a fraction of who it once was. If a skeleton was a mage in its past life it is possible for it to remember how to cast spells. Due to the increased intelligence Skeleton mages often lead other skeletons or undead to act as bodyguards.
Undead cowards. A Skeleton Mage is desperate to regain the power they once had, as a result, they will typically flee or hide when a situation doesn't look to be in their favor. Skeleton Mages are not above bargaining in order to survive against more powerful foes, as a result, they often serve at the hand of a powerful creature.
Magical hoarders. On its quest to regain its lost power a Skeleton mage will seek out magical items and artifacts to help it along the way, often keeping them hidden behind locked doors or chests for safekeeping.
Undead Nature. A Skeleton mage does not require air, food, drink or sleep.
