Reckless. At the start of its turn, the ape-man can gain advantage on all melee weapon attack rolls during that turn, but attack rolls against it have advantage until the start of its next turn.
Brute. The ape-man's weapon attacks deal one additional die of damage (included in the attack).
Multiattack. The ape-man makes two melee attacks, two with its Handaxe or two with its Fists.
Handaxe. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6 +3) slashing damage.
Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4 +3) bludgeoning damage.
Hit and Run. The ape-man can take the Dodge, Disengage, or Hide action as a bonus action on its turn.
Rage (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). The ape-man enters a barbaric rage. The rage lasts for 1 minute or until the ape-man is incapacitated. While raging, the ape-man gains the following benefits:
- The ape-man has advantage on Strength-based ability checks and saving throws.
- When it makes a melee weapon attack, the ape-man gains a +2 bonus to the damage roll.
- The ape-man has resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
Description
More than beasts but less than men, the brutal ape-men prowl the jungle, abducting travelers to be sacrificed in profane, cannibalistic rituals.
