Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Adaranth fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. Adaranth has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. (This trait is bestowed by her robe of the archmagi.)

Special Equipment. Adaranth wears an amulet of the planes and a robe of the archmagi, and wields a Dis riteknife named Indulgence and a magical longsword named Intemperance.

Queen of the Bloody Coven. Adaranth can use a bonus action to control the movement of one creature cursed by her that she can see within 30 feet of her. The creature must succeed on a DC 22 Charisma saving throw or use its reaction to move up to 30 feet in a direction of the Adaranth’s choice. Additionally, she deals an extra 1d6 necrotic damage to any target hexed by herself.

Actions

Multiattack. Adaranth makes one Captivating Bolt attack and two weapon attacks: one with Indulgence and one with Intemperance.

Intemperance. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 slashing damage. If Adaranth rolls a 20 on the attack roll, Intemperance, the target takes an extra 14 slashing damage and Adaranth makes an additional attack with this weapon.

Indulgence. Melee Weapon Attack: +17 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (1d6 + 8) piercing damage. Indulgence has 5 souls trapped within it, and deals an additional 1d4 necrotic damage per soul.

Captivating Bolt. Melee or Ranged Spell Attack: +16 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 25 (5d6 + 8) lightning damage, and if the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by Adaranth until the start of her next turn.

Call the Understudies (Recharge 5–6). Adaranth rips open a Shadowfell rift within 120 feet of her. The rift is a 20-foot-radius sphere. Each creature in that area must make a DC 22 Constitution saving throw, taking 40 (9d8) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. In addition, there is a 50 percent chance that 2 shadows then appear in unoccupied spaces in the sphere. They act as Adaranth's allies, taking their turns immediately after hers. They remain until they die or until Adaranth dismisses them as an action.

Spellcasting. Adaranth casts one of the following spells, requiring no material components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 24, +16 to hit with spell attacks):

At will: detect magic, disguise self, hex, invisibility, light, mage hand, message, prestidigitation, Tasha’s hideous laughter

3/day each: dispel magic, fly, polymorph

1/day each: maze, telekinesis, teleport, wish

Bonus Actions

Graceful Step. Adaranth teleports, along with any equipment she is wearing or carrying, to an unoccupied space she can see within 30 feet of her.

Siphon Vitality. As a bonus action, Adaranth can release any number of stored souls from Indulgence to regain 1d10 hit points per soul released.

Reactions

Annihilation. If Indulgence holds five souls, Adaranth can use this property: As a reaction immediately after Adaranth hits a creature with Indulgence and deals damage to that target, she can release all five souls. If the target now has fewer than 75 hit points, it must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or die.

Negate Spell (2/Day). When Adaranth sees a creature within 60 feet of her casting a spell, she tries to interrupt it. If the creature is casting a spell using a spell slot of 6th level or lower, its spell fails and has no effect. If it is casting a spell using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, it must succeed on a DC 22 Intelligence saving throw, or the spells fails and has no effect.

Legendary Actions

Adaranth can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Adaranth regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.

Witchcraft. Adaranth uses Spellcasting or Graceful Step.

Dark Song(Costs 2 Actions). Adaranth sings a song in a forbidden language and targets one or two creatures she can see within 60 feet of her. Each target must succeed on a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw or take 11 (2d10) psychic damage and be charmed by Adaranth for 1 minute. A target can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success and thereby becoming immune to Adaranth's Dark Song for 24 hours.

Seductive Presence (Costs 3 Actions). Adaranth targets one creature she can see within 60 feet of her. The target must succeed on a DC 22 Charisma saving throw or be overcome with lust. While overcome, the target must obey Adaranth's commands. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, coming to their senses and ending the effect on itself on a success.
