Heart of the Dragon. If Eks Sik is frightened or paralyzed by an effect that allows a saving throw, he can repeat the save at the start of his turn to end the effect on himself and all kobolds within 30 feet of him. Any kobold that benefits from this trait (including Eks Sik) has advantage on its next attack roll.
Pack Tactics. Eks Sik has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of his allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.
Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, Eks Sik has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.
Multiattack. Eks Sik makes three melee attacks with his scimitar, or two ranged attacks with his daggers.
Scimitar. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) slashing damage.
Dagger. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d4 + 4) piercing damage.
Opportunistic Attacker. Whenever a creature within 5 feet of Eks Sik hits with a melee attack, Eks Sik can immediately make one melee attack against the same target.
Description
Eks Sik hatched with an innate version of the dragonshield’s abilities. He is skilled at hand-to-hand combat and bears a shield made of dragon scales, as well as scars from many desperate fights. He also has the ability to rally in the face of certain death, inspiring others to follow him into battle. It takes a strong personality, ruthless cunning, and a silver tongue to keep a gang of mercenaries in line. As a mercenary captain, Eks Sik has these qualities in spades. His crew of kobold mercenaries are as loyal to Eks Sik as any soldier has ever been to their commander.
Eks Sik and his crew have a unique strategy in battle. They have tamed and ride a hive of kruthik into battle, often burrowing up from underneath their enemies to attack. Eks Sik himself rides a mighty kruthik hive lord named Broodlord. Broodlord’s hive and Eks Sik’s tribe have formed a cooperative, almost symbiotic arrangement. The kruthik do the bulk of the tunneling and digging for both hive and tribe, while the kobolds lay traps that protect both hive and lair alike. Both communities rally in defense of their underground dwellings when necessary, and their cooperation as mercenaries contributes a continuous supply of gold to the kobold hoard, and fresh meat to the kruthik larder.
Broodlord. Broodlord is a kruthik hive lord with +1 Intelligence, and it can understand Draconic but cannot speak it.
