Chosen of Hex (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). If Alastor Du'Mont would be reduced to 0 hit points, his current hit point total instead resets to 220 and he regains any expended uses of Legendary Resistance, Dark Delirium, or Misty Escape. Additionally, he can now use the options in the "Mythic Actions" section for 1 hour.
Spellcasting. Alastor Du'Mont is a 20th-level spellcaster. His spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 25, +17 to hit with spell attacks). Alastor Du'Mont has following Warlock spells prepared:
Cantrips (at will): chill touch, eldritch blast, minor illusion, prestidigitation
1st level (2 slot): sleep, hellish rebuke
2nd level (2 slot): enthrall, phantasmal force
3rd level (1 slot): blink, counterspell, dehydrate, festering wounds
4th level (1 slot): blight, sanguine rite, sanguine shield
5th level (4 slots): desecration, dominate person, dream, hemorrhage
Mystic Arcanum. Alastor Du'Mont has spells he can cast 1 time each per Long Rest. They are found below:
6th level: bloody inflammation
7th level: blood bind
8th level: avasculate
9th level: bleeding heart
Mothers' Favorite Son. Alastor Du'Mont gains access to a Green Hag's Shared Spellcasting feature, and casts these spells using Charisma, instead of Intelligence:
1st level (4 slots): identify, ray of sickness
2nd level (3 slots): hold person, locate object
3rd level (3 slots): bestow curse, counterspell, lightning bolt
4th level (3 slots): phantasmal killer, polymorph
5th level (2 slots): contact other plane, scrying
6th level (1 slot): eyebite
Dead Reckoning. If a creature is killed by Torturous End, Alastor Du'Mont may choose to expend 6 charges and raise that creature as an undead thrall. The creature has the same statistics as when it was alive, with the following changes:
- The creature has half of its maximum hit points that it had while alive
- The creature cannot cast spells unless the wielder of Torturous End expends an additional 4 charges
- It has the Undead Fortitude trait of a zombie
A creature raised in this way can be restored to life using any of the reviving spells, so long as the time limit is adhered to. Constructs, Oozes, Plants, and Undead cannot be affected by this ability.
Forgotten Friend. Alastor Du'Mont can expend 1 charge per attack they make, and the creature they attack must make a Wisdom or Intelligence saving throw (targets choice, DC 24). On a success nothing happens. On a failed saving throw, the target gets little whispers in its mind, convincing them that they are friends with the wielder of Torturous End. It takes 3 failed saves to be fully convinced that the wielder is an ally, and any allies they had beforehand are now enemies, as they are attacking Alastor Du'Mont who is wielding Torturous End. At the start of the afflicted creatures turn, it must make a Wisdom or Intelligence saving throw (targets choice, DC 24) in order to be released from the enchantment. They can also be released using a greater restoration or remove curse spell.
Eldritch Invocations. This is a list of Abilities gained through the pact Alastor has with the Coven Sanguinum:
- Agonizing Blast: When you cast eldritch blast, add your Charisma modifier to the damage it deals on a hit.
- Eldritch Smite: Once per turn when you hit a creature with your pact weapon, you can expend a warlock spell slot to deal an extra 1d8 force damage to the target, plus another 1d8 per level of the spell slot, and you can knock the target prone if it is Huge or smaller.
- Eldritch Spear: When you cast eldritch blast, its range is 300 feet.
- Eyes of the Rune Keeper: You can read all writing.
- Lifedrinker: When you hit a creature with your pact weapon, the creature takes extra necrotic damage equal to your Charisma modifier.
- Master of Myriad Forms: You can cast alter self at will, without expending a spell slot.
- Thirsting Blade: You can attack with your pact weapon twice, instead of once, whenever you take the attack action on your turn.
- Visions of Distant Realms: You can cast arcane eye at will, without expending a spell slot.
Attack. Alastor Du'Mont makes two attacks with his Torturous End and casts Eldritch Blast. He may substitute his Eldritch Blast with another spell.
Torturous End. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 15 (4d4 + 5) slashing damage plus 23 (4d6 + 9) necrotic damage. An additional 5 (1d8) force damage can be added if a spell slot is expended, adding an additional 5 (1d8) force damage per spell slot level. Alastor Du'Mont may use either his Spellcasting spell slots or his Mothers' Favorite Son spell slots.
Eldritch Blast. Ranged Spell Attack: +17 to hit, range 300 ft., 1 target. Hit 14 (1d10 + 9) force damage. Eldritch blast produces 4 beams, and can hit up to 4 different creatures.
Dark Delirium (3/Day). As an action, Alastor Du'Mont chooses a creature that he can see within 60 feet of himself. It must make a Wisdom saving throw against his warlock spell save DC. On a failed save, it is charmed or frightened by him (his choice) for 1 minute or until his concentration is broken (as if he are concentrating on a spell). This effect ends early if the creature takes any damage.
Fey Presence. As an action, Alastor Du'Mont can cause each creature in a 10-foot cube originating from him to make a Wisdom saving throw against his warlock spell save DC. The creatures that fail their saving throws are all charmed or frightened by him, (his choice) until the end of his next turn.
Unhealing Wounds. Torturous End can cause the wounds it creates to weep and be unable to heal for a time. As a bonus action, for 4 charges, Alastor Du'Mont channels the power of the Patron of Forbidden Magic and the last target he hit with Torturous End must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 24), or it can't be healed for the next 3 rounds. During this time, if the target is on the receiving end of any healing spells, that healing instead goes to Alastor Du'Mont. This effect can be removed early via a greater restoration or remove curse spell.
Misty Escape (3/Day). When Alastor Du'Mont takes damage, he can use his reaction to turn invisible and teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space he can see. He remains invisible until the start of his next turn or until he attacks or casts a spell.
Beguiling Defenses. Alastor Du'Mont is immune to being charmed, and when another creature attempts to charm him, he can use his reaction to attempt to turn the charm back on that creature. The creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against his warlock spell save DC or be charmed by him for 1 minute or until the creature takes any damage.
Alastor Du'Mont can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. He regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.
Attack (Costs 1 Action). Alastor Du'Mont makes one attack with his Torturous End.
Spell (Costs 2 Actions). Alastor Du'Mont casts a spell using either his Spellcasting or Mystic Arcanum lists of spells.
If Alastor Du'Mont's Chosen of Hex trait has activated in the last hour, he can use the option below as a legendary action.
The Hells Hath no Fury (Costs 2 Actions). Alastor summons a small legion of undead. He summons 1d4 ghoul, 1d2 ghast, and 1 wraith.
Like Mothers Scorned (Costs 3 Actions). Alastor Du'Mont becomes enveloped within Fey Magic. For the next 1d4 rounds, thorny briars envelope him, and melee attacks made against him deal 3d6 piercing damage to the attacker. Additionally for the same duration, any necrotic damage dealt by Alastor Du'Mont heals him for half the damage dealt.
Description
Alastor Du'Mont is a warlock pacted to the powerful Coven Sanguinum, A trio of hags who have made it their goal to spread the use of forbidden magics throughout Kashenah. Alastor's "mothers" as he so lovingly refers to them as, are Hilda Gravemask, Ruth Dustcradler, and Bessie Nervenibbler. The three found Alastor when he was just a baby, living in the village of Aulbangel with his parents. Unfortunately, his poor parents met a terrible fate at the teeth of a Yeth Hound. When the three hags found baby Alastor he was sound asleep in his crib. Not wanting the poor boy to grow up without proper care and guidance, they generously made it their duty to raise Alastor. Alastor grew up with a powerful family, and they set him down a righteous path of freeing the world of its laws on magic, wanting all to be able to practice whatever subsection of the arcane they wished. Their ambition was set in motion by the God of Forbidden Magics, Hex, who inspired the hags to form their coven in the first place.
