Description

Found in a cursed 7/11 (o/e), there is something not quite right about this shopkeeper, they smile too wide, with too many teeth. Their eyes are dull and sunken, their hair, upon closer inspection, is quite obviously artificial. In the very pit of the uncanny valley is where this- this thing belongs!

A Vaguely Menacing Shopkeeper rarely leaves their till, unless it has to remove some unruly (or alive) customers. The best way to avoid attracting their attention is to act like a perfect shopper, take a basket, maybe pick out a few items (strangely enough, they don't charge for their wares, yet seem to always be perfectly stocked), and don't, whatever you do, don't cause a scene.

Lair and Lair Actions

A cursed 7/11, very similar to a regular 7/11, yet there are a few defining features. These may include:

  • Every item being fully stocked, always. Yes, even that soda that was discontinued about 3 decades ago.
  • The sell-by dates are all abyssal runes.
  • Everything is absolutely sparkling clean, exept that patch of wallpaper peeling back to reveal a wall of flesh, but no matter.
  • The occasional drop of blood seeping through the ceiling tiles.
  • The cash register is antique, but very well kept, aside from the drawer being corroded shut.
  • Are those eyeballs? Being sold as sushi??

Lair Actions

On the first initiative count, the Vaguely Menacing Shopkeeper takes a lair action to cause the following effect; the Vaguely Menacing Shopkeeper can’t use the effect more than once per combat:

  • Over the counter products: the Shopkeeper grabs the strong liquor and cigarettes, he takes a deep swig from the bottle, adding 2d6 temporary hitpoints, while causing disadvantage on their next attack roll, which will be shoving the cigarettes into the bottleneck, lighting them on fire, and throwing the resulting molotov cocktail at the floor, creating a 5ft circle of fire that lasts 5 turns, and causes 1d6 fire damage to any creature that moves through it, or starts their turn in it.
