Amorphous. The stalker can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.
Slippery. The stalker has advantage on ability checks and saving throws made to escape a grapple.
Spider Climb. The stalker can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Watery Stealth. While underwater, the stalker has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide, and it can take the Hide action as a bonus action.
Multiattack. The stalker makes three attacks: two with its bite and one with its tail.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) acid damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 15ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage.
Constrict. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5ft., one Large or smaller creature. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) bludgeoning damage plus 16 (3d10) acid damage. The target is grappled (escape DC 16) if the stalker isn’t already constricting a creature, and the target is restrained until this grapple ends.
Swallow. The stalker makes one bite attack against a Medium or smaller target it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target is also swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the stalker, and it takes 21 (6d6) acid damage at the start of each of the stalker’s turns. A stalker can have only one creature swallowed at a time. If the stalker takes 30 damage or more on a single turn from the swallowed creature, the stalker must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the creature, which falls prone in a space within 10 feet of the stalker. If the stalker dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 15 feet of movement, exiting prone.
Description
In the murky depths of underground aquifers, rivers, and swampy marshes, a stealthy and deadly predator lurks: the Blind Stalker. These enigmatic serpentine oozes possess a unique adaptation that allows them to move through the water with unmatched stealth and precision.
The Blind Stalker, as its name suggests, lacks discernible eyes or any visible sensory organs. Its elongated body is nearly transparent, blending seamlessly with the aquatic environment, rendering it virtually invisible to its unsuspecting prey. This natural camouflage enables the Blind Stalker to glide through the water undetected, becoming one with its surroundings.
These serpentine oozes are adept swimmers, moving with an agility and grace that belies their gelatinous form. They navigate the water silently, their undulating movements propelling them with remarkable speed and precision. The Blind Stalker possesses an uncanny ability to sense vibrations and disturbances in the water, honing in on the slightest movements of its unsuspecting victims.
When the moment is right, the Blind Stalker strikes with astonishing speed and ferocity. It propels itself out of the water with a sudden burst of energy, launching its serpentine body towards its prey in a blur of motion. With a vice-like grip, it wraps its gelatinous form around its victim, constricting with incredible strength. Helplessly trapped within the Blind Stalker’s grip, the prey is slowly engulfed and swallowed whole.
The Blind Stalker’s method of predation is swift and efficient, leaving little chance for escape. Its acidic digestive enzymes dissolve its prey rapidly, reducing it to a nutrient-rich slurry that the Blind Stalker readily absorbs, sustaining its existence in the depths of its watery domain.
Encounters with the Blind Stalker are rare and treacherous. Its ability to blend seamlessly into its surroundings makes it a formidable and stealthy predator. Even the most experienced adventurers must exercise caution and vigilance when traversing the waters inhabited by these elusive creatures.
Survivors who have encountered the Blind Stalker speak of its eerily quiet movements, the sensation of being watched from beneath the surface, and the sudden and devastating ambush that follows. These tales serve as a stark warning to those who dare to challenge the depths, reminding them of the ever-present threat that lies hidden in the watery abyss.
