Description
Turquise
A cousin of the bronze dragons, the Turquoise dragons are more earthen dwellers who prefer moist ground such as the inside of a mountain under a stream of behind a waterfall. And tend to stay in their lairs unless enticed by fish or an interesting conversation. At that point they may try to shake a chunk of turquoise loose and throw it at the feet of the people who gave it satisfactory entertainment of food. Just as playful as it’s cousin but much more shy. It will make itself known but be as friendly as possible as to not scare off possible sources of fascination.
Turquoise dragons are odd looking beings who cover themselves in their wings as if making an armadillo shell with a crackup the middle of its back. It has wade, clawed feet with thick claws meant for digging into earth and burrowing it’s home. The dragons legs shorter and stout but strong nonetheless. Claws on the tips of the wings like an extra set of talons that the dragon uses to attack, the forepaws used to sort and form the fine details. It has a wider tail, meant to cover its belly, it actually looks like it could form into a ball.
Down to Earth. They are the most at home on earth, and their personality shows that they are actually very nice and more stoic unless entertained and interested in something. In which case they will happily take on a more excited disposition and repeated ask for the object of their interest like a child wanting a toy. Though if they are denied, they tend to understand and leave, though after such periods they often go into seclusion and are not seen for a while. But if they receive the treasure they will likely leave something else that they had found interesting while digging, but have lost interest in. As such their treasury is ever changing and evolving.
They also tend to have their hoards be located in alcoves blocked off by a boulder or trees that it had knocked down, similar to a safe room. They do not need everything, they just want everything they are interested in and will make room for it by getting rid of things it doesn’t want anymore.
Motherly Love. While Turquise dragons do not have any problem with gender or species, most of the time, it is noted that the dragons seem to have the ability to pick out a mother, and are protective of mothers as well. They enjoy the company of a peaceful loving and kind person and sometimes will even make a section of its home available as a favor to a mother and the traveling family if it likes them enough. But do not abuse it’s courtesy for it will then be very irritated at the fact you have attempted to deceive or steal from it.
But for mothers-to-be and those carrying child, the dragon will often act as a sort of mid wife if the mother has no place or home to go to. It will seek out others to help and even just snatch them up before returning them to where they were afterward.
Lair and Lair Actions
On initiative 20 (losing on ties) the dragon takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; The dragon can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row.
- A large area becomes covered by wet moss, making the ground [rule]difficult terrain[rule]. The first time a person enters the ground per round they must make a DC 13 Dexterity save or fall prone. The area is three 15ft square patches.
- The dragon creates a cloud of fog as if it had cast the Fog Cloud spell. The fog lasts until initiative 20 of the next round.
- A turquise explosion erupts from a pocket under the ground in a 10ft square within 12ft of the dragon that it can see. Anyone in the area must make a DC 14 Dexterity save or take 2d10 Bludgeoning damage.
Regional Effects
- An area of over 5 miles has an enhanced rate of purity and spring water. Even in areas where there wouldn’t be much drinkable water it transforms into clear and drinkable water that comes from the ground. Anyone who drinks the water also feels a healing or calming sensation that can release corruption points and provide the effects of a lesser restoration spell.
- For 3 miles around the lair connectivity to nature and all of its power is much easier to connect with and discern. Druids often find these areas and receive extra power within them, enabling for navigation easily through the forest and where all the food is within the area, but not where the dragon or any other animals are.
- The dragon can sense any being with Wisdom 5 or higher with ill intent that comes within 50ft of a turquoise stone that comes from the ground as well as anything pregnant.
If the dragon dies these effects slowly fade over 1d10 days.
