Description

Vixel Hounds are canine, quadrupedal pack animals that hale from the feywild. Vixel hounds are easily distinguished via their strange but noticeable adaptations. Sporting manes of large quills akin to a porcupine around their neck and upper torso, these are often used as protection from other predators but it has become apparent that Vixel Hounds have the capacity to communicate with eachother by trilling their quills in specific patterns, that differentiate via pack allegiance.

The Vixel Hounds most obvious feature is that of their bare skull, completely baron of fur, skin and even muscle. In place of where their eyes should be sits two hollow almost pitch black holes in which their sunken eyes are rested. A Vixel Hounds bite is dangerous. their large skull inlaid teeth pair well with their jaw strength. Having a hinge on their jaw they can actively lock when biting onto prey to hold them in place. Their ravenous bite is accompanied by an acidic saliva that the Vixel Hound naturally produces via its mutated salivary gland, leaving searing flesh and burned tissue to prey that gets away, leaving a scent for the Hound to track later.

Each of the Vixel Hounds feet is adorned by 3 brutal talon like claws, allowing them to climb up solid rock with ease, these talons are accompanied by a deadly necrosis reaction that takes place during a hunt or when the Hound feels as though it is in danger.

Vixel Hounds are known pack animals generally hunting within groups of 4-5, dragging back any prey that they had crossed them to their dens, which they make in generally inaccessible areas such as caves with collapsed entrances or gargantuan hollow trees. Accessing their dens using their incorporeal movement. Vixel Hounds are renowned additions to the fey courts, being used as attack dogs, guards and even trackers. Being pack animals they naturally blend into hierarchy and structure that the fey can provide.

Their colours have not been seen to differentiate much, the most common of which being black with splotches of white along their sides, back and even quills. Though rarely some have been seen, adorning colours that more fit their surroundings, their quills resembling the colour of moss and vine while their body takes on the texture and colour of tree bark.
