Limited Telepathy. The ankheg lord can magically transmit simple messages and images to any creature within 100 feet of it that can understand a language. This form of telepathy doesn't allow the receiving creature to telepathically respond.
Multiattack. The ankheg lord makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws. When its acid spray is available, it can use the spray in place of its bite.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (4d6 + 5) slashing damage plus 6 (2d6) acid damage. If the target is a Huge or smaller creature, it is grappled (escape DC 16). Until this grapple ends, the ankheg lord can bite only the grappled creature and has advantage on attack rolls to do so.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (3d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it must make a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Acid Spray (Recharge 4-6). The ankheg spits acid in a line that is 60 feet long and 10 feet wide, provided that it has no creature grappled.If so then it spits through the creature but only 15 feet. Each creature in that line must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 20 (6d6) acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Brood Call. Twice per day, while inside its lair the ankheg lord can make a distress call upon the rest of the hive. Spawing 2 (1d4) ankheg plus 3 (2d4-1) ankhegling to its aid every 10 turns until the ankheg lord dies.
