Traits

Devil’s Sight. Magical darkness doesn’t impede Whimsy’s darkvision.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Whimsy fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. Whimsy has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Regeneration. Whimsy regains 20 hit points at the start of her turn. If she takes radiant damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of her next turn. Whimsy dies only if she starts her turn with 0 hit points and doesn’t regenerate.

Sensual Aura. Whimsy uses her aura, targeting enemies in a 30ft. radius around her. Concentration checks and wisdom saving throws are made at disadvantage.

Actions

Multiattack. Whimsy makes three Whip or Longsword attacks. She can replace one attack with a use of Last Embrace, if available.

Whip. Finesse, Reach Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 10) force damage plus 36 (8d8) fire damage.

Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 10) acid damage, or 19 (2d10 + 10) acid damage when used with two hands, plus 36 (8d8) fire damage.

Last Embrace (Recharge 5–6). Whimsy touches one creature within 10 feet of her. The target must succeed on a DC 26 Wisdom saving throw or take 44 (8d10) necrotic damage and be charmed for 1 minute. While charmed in this way, the target is blinded and deafened. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Spellcasting. Whimsy casts one of the following spells, requiring no material components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 26):

At will: alter self (can become Medium when changing her appearance), command, fireball, invisibility (self only), animate objects, wall of fireburning handssending.

3/day each: incendiary cloud, banishment, counterspellplane shiftteleport.

1/day each: wish, mass suggestiongatemagnificent mansion.

Teleport. Whimsy teleports, along with any equipment she is wearing or carrying, up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space she can see.

Bonus Actions

Summon Servant (1/Day). Whimsy magically summons a succubus or a cambion. The summoned creature appears in an unoccupied space within 60 feet of its summoner, acts as an ally of its summoner, and can’t summon other devils. It remains for 10 minutes, until it or its summoner dies, or until its summoner dismisses it as an action.

Legendary Actions

Whimsy can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Whimsy regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.

Teleport. Whimsy uses Teleport.

Sacrificial Gaze (Costs 2 Actions). Whimsy turns her magical gaze toward one creature she can see within 120 feet of her and commands it to burn. The target must succeed on a DC 26 Wisdom saving throw or take 22 (4d10) fire damage.

Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 10) acid damage, or 19 (2d10 + 10) acid damage when used with two hands, plus 36 (8d8) fire damage.

Description

Whimsy is an Archduchess of Reverie, the lustful eighth layer of the Hells. After a gift from the fates and a very lucky wish, she became the ruler of her own stolen splinter of the Shadowfell, now called Reverie. What she lacks in intelligence, she makes up for in strength and luck. She rules the layer with members of her close family and would do anything to protect them. A bit of a wildcard, Asmodeus keeps her at arms length due to her tendencies toward chaos and selfishness.

Lair and Lair Actions

Whimsy’s Lair

Whimsy’s lair is a beautiful rococo style castle in the northeast part of reverie. It’s made entirely of marble and golden accents, a sharp contrast with the other arch devil’s castles. It is a den of depravity and sexual promiscuity full of succubi, incubi, and devils of a lustful nature.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Whimsy can take one of the following lair actions; she can’t take the same lair action two rounds in a row:

Fireball. Whimsy casts the fireball spell.

Shadow Veil. Whimsy casts the darkness spell four times. Whimsy does not need to concentrate on these spells.

Regional Effects

The region containing Whimsy lair is warped by her magic, which creates one or more of the following effects:

Horny Hellscape. The area within 9 miles of the lair has an aura of lust. Creatures find themselves lacking inhibition. Creatures here find themselves more likely to make bad choices or suffer from rash decisions, feeling almost intoxicated without even knowing it. This effect has a particular hold on mortals.

Mercurial Nature. The weather is heavily affected by Whimsy’s moods, which change rapidly and often.

Peculiar Darkness. Shadows on the plane tend to writhe and lengthen as if they are alive, moving out of the corner of your eye or disappearing entirely.
If Whimsy dies, these effects fade after 1D10 days.
