Traits

Aggressive. As a bonus action, the gorok can move up to its speed toward a hostile creature that it can see.

Devious Hunter. While in its lair, the gorok has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks, and Wisdom (Survival) checks made to track it have disadvantage.

Fast Metabolism. The gorok can use its action to consume a recently slain Medium creature, or two actions to consume a recently slain Large or larger creature. After consuming three Medium creatures or one Large or larger creature the gorok regains 8d12 + 48 hit points.

Keen Hearing and Smell. The gorok has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing and smell.

Legendary Resistance (3/day). If the gorok fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Standing Leap. The gorok's long jump is up to 40 feet and its high jump is up to 20 feet, with or without a running start.

Wounded Fury. While it has 50 hit points or fewer, the gorok has advantage on attack rolls. In addition, it deals an extra 11 (2d10) damage to any target it hits with a melee attack.

Actions

Multiattack. The gorok makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (2d10 + 7) piercing damage plus 10 (3d6) fire damage. If the target is a creature of size Large or smaller, it is grappled (escape DC 17). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained and the gorok can't bite another target.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (3d10 +7) bludgeoning damage.

Projectile. Ranged Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, range 50/100 ft., one target. Hit: 31 (7d6 + 7) bludgeoning damage. As a part of this attack, the gorok may attempt to grapple a creature of size Medium or smaller to use as a projectile. A creature thrown by the gorok takes the same damage as the target and lands prone, but may attempt a DC 21 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check using its reaction, taking half damage on a success.

Fire Breath (Recharge 5-6). The gorok exhales fire in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 42 (12d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Reactions

Death's Door. Upon being reduced to 50 hit points or fewer, the gorok instantly regains its fire breath. Additionally, if the gorok is in its lair, it strikes the ground, opening fiery fissures from which spew fire and rock. Creatures within 45 feet of the gorok and within 20 feet of the ground must succeed on a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) fire damage and 16 (3d10) bludgeoning damage on a failed safe, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Legendary Actions

The gorok can take 3 legendary actions, one each of the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The gorok regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Charge. The gorok moves up to its movement speed in a straight line. Creatures of size Large or smaller in its path must make a DC 21 Strength saving throw, taking 16 (2d8 + 7) bludgeoning damage and being knocked prone on a failure, or half as much damage and being pushed out of the gorok's path on a success. The gorok does not provoke opportunity attacks from creatures in its path.

Leaping Retreat. The gorok leaps up to its jump distance. If it is in its lair and lands in cover it takes the Hide action.

Pounce. The gorok leaps up to its jump distance and makes a slam attack. Creatures within 10 feet of where it lands must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
