Battle Master. Borin has 4 maneuvers. They can use only one maneuver per attack.
Superiority Die. Borin has 2 superiority dice which are d8s. A superiority die is expended when they use a maneuver. Borin regains all expended superiority dice at the beginning of their turn.
Maneuver Save DC. Some of Borin's maneuvers require the target to make a saving throw. The save DC for Borin's maneuvers is 15.
Maneuvers. Borin has 4 maneuvers available (detailed below):
Disarming Strike - When Borin hits a creature with a weapon attack, they can expend one superiority die to attempt to disarm the target, forcing it to drop one item of Borin's choice that it’s holding. Borin adds the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Strength saving throw. On a failed save, it drops the object. The object lands at its feet.
Goading Attack - When Borin hits a creature with a weapon attack, they can expend one superiority die to attempt to goad the target into attacking them. Borin adds the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target has disadvantage on all attack rolls against targets other than Borin until the end of their next turn.
Menacing Attack - When Borin hits a creature with a weapon attack, they can expend one superiority die to attempt to frighten the target. Borin adds the superiority die to the attack’s damage roll, and the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it is frightened of Borin until the end of their next turn.
Sweeping Attack - When Borin hits a creature with a melee weapon attack, they can expend one superiority die to attempt to damage another creature with the same attack. Choose another creature within 5 feet of the original target and within Borin's reach. If the original attack roll would hit the second creature, it takes damage equal to the number rolled on the superiority die. The damage is of the same type dealt by the original attack.
Multiattack. Borin makes three melee attacks with their Grey Sliver.
Grey Sliver. Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 9) slashing damage. The target must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target takes a gash to one limb. The player rolls a d4 and takes a wound to the corresponding limb on the table below:
Gash- When a creature receives a gash they take an extra 1d4 necrotic damage as they bleed. For each gash a target has, they receive an additional 1d4 necrotic damage at the end of their turn and lose one stack of gash. A creature may use an action to staunch up to two gashes on themselves or one on another creature.
A creature also succumbs to a status effect corresponding to the number of gashes they have at the end of Borin's turn.
- Two or less- No effect.
- Three or more- Creature has disadvantage on strength checks and their move speed is halved.
- Five or more- Creature deals half damage on all melee weapon attacks.
- 8 or more- Creature falls prone at the end of each of their turns. They may attempt to resist falling by making a DC11 strength saving throw. On a success they remain standing. On a failure they fall prone and gain one level of exhaustion.
Crushing Blow (Recharge 4-6). Borin lets Grey Sliver consume 2d6 minus his wisdom modifier to release a wave of unimaginable pressure on foes within 30 feet of him. Creatures in the area must make a DC15 Strength saving throw or take 3d10 force damage and be knocked prone. A creature knocked prone this way cannot stand until the end of their next turn.
Parry. Borin adds 5 to their AC against one melee attack that would hit them. To do so, they must be within 10 feet of the attacker and be wielding a melee weapon.
Description
Borin knows two things: loyalty and savagery. A leader loves nothing more than a vicious guard dog and Borin is always ready to fit that role. Despite having the battlefield prowess and cunning to lead on his own, Borin prefers the freedom to hunt as he pleases.
