Buzz. Creatures starting their turn within 20 ft. of the beeholder must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be confused until the start of their next turn. An affected target can't take reactions and must roll a d6 to determine its behavior for this turn.
| d6 | Behavior |
|---|---|
| 1-2 | The creature uses all its movement to move closer to the beeholder. If it is within 5ft. of the beeholder it falls prone until the end of its turn. |
| 3-4 | The creature doesn't move or take actions this turn. It instead dances around like a bee. |
| 5-6 | The creature uses its movement and action to move to a randomly determined creature within 20ft. of it and tries to grapple it. |
Multiattack. The beeholder uses its eye ray and then attacks with its stinger.
Eye Rays. The beeholder shoots one of the following magical eye rays at random at one creature it can see within 60 feet of it.
1. Paralyzing Ray. The targeted creature must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
2. Enervation Ray. The targeted creature must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, taking 27 (6d8) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
3. Disintegration Ray. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or take 36 (8d8) force damage. If this damage reduces the creature to 0 hit points, its body becomes a pile of fine gray dust.
If the target is a Large or smaller nonmagical object or creation of magical force, it is disintegrated without a saving throw. If the target is a Huge or larger object or creation of magical force, this ray disintegrates a 10-foot cube of it.
Stinger. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (4d6+2) piercing damage.
Create Honey. The beeholder magically creates acid honey on the ground in a 15 ft. radius around a point within 60ft. range. The area becomes difficult terrain for 1 minute. A creature that starts its turn in the honey takes 2d6 acid damage.
Polliniferous Flatulence. As a reaction to being hit by an attack the beeholder can release a cloud of pollen which smell like rotten corpses. Each creature within 10ft. of it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned until the end of its next turn.
The beeholder can take 1 legendary action, using the Create Honey option below. It can take it only at the end of another creature’s turn. The beeholder regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Create Honey. The beeholder uses its Create Honey action.
Description
A beeholder is created in the rare occurence that a beholder gets stung by a bee. Their nightmares about being stung give birth to these awful creatures. Instead of buzzing their tiny lips constantly murmur the word "buzz" which drives nearby creatures into madness. While buzzing around in their underground lairs the solitary creatures sustain themselves on acid honey they create. They only have a few Eye rays as their stalks instead end in bees that hold them aloft. Their central eye is vaguely insectoid and devoid of emotion.
