The dragon exhales fire, acid, lightning, poison, or frost depending on color in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 11 dexterity saving throw, taking 7 2d6 damage of the matching type on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Draconic Charm (1/Day).
The dragon whelp attempts to charm a humanoid creature that can see it within 30 ft. That creature must make a DC 11 wisdom saving throw. On a failure, it becomes charmed by the dragon whelp for 1 minute or until the whelp or its allies do anything harmful to it. The charmed creature is friendly to the whelp. When the effect ends, the creature knows it was charmed.
Description
Dragon Whelp Lore:
- Described as the weakest form of a dragon after they have just hatched, born with a ravenous hunger and will attempt to eat anything they can find. Once they have gorged, they will fall into a deep sleep.
- Bonding: Whelps often bond to the first creature that gives them food when they hatch. They view that creature as a friend and seek food from them until they mature into dragon wyrmlings after 1 year. A wyrmling will often strike out on its own.
- Tactics: Found in groups in dragon caves or tended by kobolds. Younger whelps swarm unfamiliar creatures and attempt to eat them, while older whelps may try to charm and split up perceived threats. Encounters with Dragon Egg clutches can be dangerous if there is no food nearby.
Whelp Color:
- Whelps can represent any color of dragon, and players can change their breath weapon and scale color to whatever makes sense for their game. The dragon's scale might molt later to reveal its true color.
