Traits

Commander. An inspiring, commanding Uruk capable of summoning reinforcements to assist in battle. Beware his horn.

Machine. Uruks and Ologs devoted to serving and fueling the "war machine," the machine tribe harbors the best craftsmen Sauron's armies have to offer.

Aggressive. As a bonus, the warchief can move up to his speed towards any creature it can see.

Cursed Weapons. All of the warchief's weapon attacks deal an extra 3d4 necrotic damage (included in the attack). Upon taking necrotic damage from the warchief's attack, an affected creature takes 20 necrotic damage at the start of their turn for 3 turns.

Great Strength. The warchief has advantage on all Strength checks and saving throws, and deals critical hits on a 16 or higher.

Enraged by Necrotic. If the warchief takes any necrotic damage from an enemy, he becomes enraged until the start of his next turn.

Dying Command. If the warchief is killed, all friendly creatures that can see the warchief become enraged. Enraged creatures gain the aggressive trait, cannot be charmed or frightened, can perform 2 attacks in one turn, and all attacks gain an additional +6 to hit, and deal guaranteed critical hits. This rage lasts for 3 of the enraged creature's turns.

Actions

Multiattack. The warchief makes three attacks with its axes.

Axe. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, range 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 30 (3d12 + 10) slashing damage plus 8 (3d4) necrotic damage.

Throwing Axe. Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, range 10/40 ft., 1 target. Hit: 18 (3d8 + 4) slashing damage plus 8 (3d4) necrotic damage.

Machine Hook. The warchief throws his machine hook at a creature within his line of sight and no more than 60 ft. away from him. The target must succeed a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw or take 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage, be pulled within 5 ft. of the warchief, take 20 bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone and stunned.

War Horn (recharge 5-6). The warchief blows his horn. Roll a d4. On a 1-3, the warchief summons 5 Uruk savages to fight alongside him. On a 4, the warchief summons 3 Uruk savages, and a banner Uruk. Banner Uruks place a banner on their turn, which enrages all friendly creatures within 20 ft. of the banner, except the warchief. The banner has 20 hit points. After placing the banner, the Banner Uruk becomes a regular Uruk warrior.

Reactions

Savage Counter. Whenever a creature makes a melee attacks against the savage from the front, the savage can roll a DC Strength saving throw equal to 10 + the attacker's strength and dex scores. On a failed save, the attack hits as normal. On a successful save, the savage takes no damage, deals 5 bludgeoning damage against the attacker, and stuns the attacker.

Description

Crafted and bred to serve the Dark Lord Sauron, Uruk-hai are a mix of orc, goblin, and human and arguably the deadliest breed of orc. Despite not being as hardy as their raiding and pillaging brethren, Uruk-hai are far more dexterous and intelligent, and are usually obedient to whoever is commanding them, and not nearly as chaotic as orcs. Their bodies are far more human-like than orcs', and they lack the prominent tusks that orcs have. Despite being far more disciplined, Uruks are still much like orcs in their love of killing and respect for strength and strength alone.

Warchiefs. Even higher than the captains are the warchiefs. These are captains who have proved themselves through exceptional leadership, strength, or cunning. As such, warchiefs are deadlier than captains, and are quite high on the Uruk hierarchy. Warchiefs are just as diverse as captains, though they are considerably stronger. This stat block is for a machine commander savage warchief.
