Telepathic Bond
While the homunculus is on the same plane of existence as its master, it can magically convey what it senses to its master, and the two can communicate telepathically.
Arcane Mending
The homunculus regains 2d6 hit points if the mending spell is cast on it. If it dies, it vanishes, leaving its heart in its space. When Repaired it takes an additional half an hour per augment capping out at a long rest.
Evasion
If the homunculus is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails. It can't use this trait if it's incapacitated.
Arcane Augmentation
This homunculus is a continuous and ongoing project. After its initial construction, it gains sentience, but an artificer's work is never done, and a project can always be improved. At a cost of 10 hours and 25 gold pieces, you can craft and integrate new features into the homunculus. Modifications are listed below.
Arcane Augments
- Arcane Redirection
- Whenever a ranged weapon attack is made within ten feet of the homunculus, the last Sentient being touched by the homunculus becomes the target instead. (Source. Cursed Scarab jewel used as its heart).
Force Strike. Ranged Weapon Attack: your spell attack modifier to hit, range 30 ft., one target you can see. Hit: 1d4 + PB force damage.
Channel Magic. The homunculus delivers a spell you cast that has a range of touch. The homunculus must be within 120 feet of you.
Description
Appearance: The Arcane Weaver Beetle combines elements of both a spider and a scarab, resulting in a unique, multifaceted construct. It has a beetle-like body with a hardened, metallic shell adorned with intricate arcane runes that pulse with ley energy. From its abdomen, it can extend spindly, spider-like legs and retractable, delicate wings made of a thin, shimmering material.
Abilities & Achievements:
- Flight Speed: When it takes flight, its elytra open to reveal thin, iridescent wings that beat rapidly, allowing for smooth and agile movement through the air. The wings are infused with arcane energy, providing it with an almost ethereal grace.
- Touch Spells: The Arcane Weaver Beetle can channel magical energy through its legs and antennae. When casting a touch spell, the runes on its shell glow brightly, and a current of magical energy runs through its appendages, transferring the spell to the target.
- Arcane Ley Energy: The beetle is powered by a core of arcane ley energy, which not only sustains it but also enhances its abilities. This energy is visible as a soft, pulsing glow from within its body, particularly around the runes.
- Internal Ley Line Management: The Arcane Weaver Beetle assists the Warforged Artificer by helping to manage its internal ley lines, the magical channels that fuel the Warforged’s body. It uses its delicate legs and antennae to perform precise adjustments, ensuring the Warforged’s energy flow remains stable and efficient.
- Maintenance and Tinkering: The beetle is equipped with tools integrated into its legs, capable of performing minor repairs and maintenance on the Warforged and other constructs. It can weave metallic threads imbued with ley energy to mend small damages or reinforce weak points.
Behavior: The Arcane Weaver Beetle moves with an eerie precision, its legs making a soft clicking sound as it walks. It often perches on the Warforged’s shoulder or back, where it can easily access the Warforged’s internal mechanisms. When idle, it emits a faint, rhythmic hum, a side effect of its ley energy core.
