Traits

Camouflage. While moving perfectly still, this creature can blend in to its surroundings. When observed under a bright light, a creature can recognize the Angler if its passive perception is at least 13.

Ambusher. This creature has advantage on attack rolls against surprised creatures.

Alluring. The Angler sports a lure atop its head, and any creatures that can see it that are within 30 ft. of the Angler must make a DC 15 WIS saving throw. On a failure, the creature must move a quarter of their movement speed towards the Angler each turn. On a success, the creature is unaffected by the lure for as long as they remain within 30 ft. of it. Affected creatures may make another saving throw on their sequential turns.

Actions

MultiAttack. The Angler may make two attacks each turn. A full charge takes up two attacks.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 2d8 +3 slashing damage.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 1d8 +5 piercing damage.

Fireball [Recharge 4-6]. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 30/100 ft., any targets in a 15 ft. circular area. Hit: 2d8 +5 fire damage.

Charge. Any unit within a 15/30 ft. line must make a DC 17 DEX saving throw. On a failure, the target must take 1d12 bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. On a success, they take half the damage, and are not knocked prone. If the charge is cut short, the Angler may make another attack.

Reactions

Opportunity Attack. If a creature leaves melee range, the Angler may make one claw or bite attack on the creature. This does not happen if the creature takes the disengage action.

Description

The Angler is a large creature, often dark green and gray in color. The skin is partially stone, and resistant to non-magical slashing and piercing damage. It has a lure on top of its head, closely resembling and foliage in the area, most likely those near bodies of water, as the Angler prefers to preside and ambush in water. The Angler walks on all fours, and has sharp, black claws.
