Traits

Born of Shadow. When the Void-Borne dies outside of the Shadowfell, its essence returns to the Shadowfell, forming a new body after 1d4+1 days. Afterward, the Void-Borne is resurrected within the Shadowfell, and is able to be sent outside of the Shadowfell. However, if the Void-Borne is killed within the Shadowfell, its essence is destroyed and cannot be resurrected again, becoming a part of the Shadowfell itself.

Death by Daylight. In the presence of light, such as daylight, radiance magic, or fire, a Void-Borne begins to decay, taking 2d6 radiant damage when it starts its turn in sunlight or within 15 feet of the source of light.

Actions

Dissipate (cooldown - 3 rounds). The Void-Borne dissipates into a cloud of black shards, loosely formed in a vaguely humanoid shape, having advantage on saving rolls. Lasts until the end of its next turn. While dissipated, the Void-Borne cannot use its normal attacks, but can move up to its maximum speed in any direction to a creature in range of it, and attempt to envelop them in their cloud. The creature must make a DC 15 CON saving throw, being enveloped by the Void-Borne (applying the restrained condition) and taking 2d4 necrotic damage on a failed throw, or half that and being able to brush away the Void-Borne on a success.

Shadow Slash. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., up to 2 targets. Hit: 20 (5d6 + 2) [damage type] damage.

Description

Most people live their lives without having any interactions from realms outside of the Material Plane. However, once in a blue moon, a child is born having been touched by the Shadowfell - the Plane of Shadows. This child lives as its peers do, acting like they do and looking no different from them other than grey-tinged eyes and a slightly paler complexion.

The changes appear when they die. Unlike most people, who are sent to Heaven or the Infernal Depths upon their death, the souls of those touched by the Shadowfell are sent there upon their deaths, becoming Void-Borne: twisted simulacrums of what they once were in life. Their morals and compassion for the living now abandoned, they will help spread the Shadowfell's influence to the Material Plane as much as possible.
