Traits

Shapechanger. The imp can use its action to polymorph into a beast form that resembles a rat (speed 20 ft.), a raven (20 ft., fly 60 ft.), or a spider (20 ft., climb 20 ft.), or back into its true form. This particular Pact Boon Imp can also transform into the likeness of a deceased Wolfhound "Beggar."  Its statistics are the same in each form, except for the speed changes noted. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Devil's Sight. Magical darkness doesn't impede the imp's darkvision.

Magic Resistance. The imp has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Familiar. The imp can enter into a contract to serve another creature as a familiar, forming a telepathic bond with its willing master. While the two are bonded, the master can sense what the imp senses as long as they are within 1 mile of each other. While the imp is within 10 feet of its master, the master shares the imp’s Magic Resistance trait. If its master violates the terms of the contract, the imp can end its service as a familiar, ending the telepathic bond.

Actions

Invisibility. The imp magically turns invisible until it attacks or until its concentration ends (as if concentrating on a spell). Any equipment the imp wears or carries is invisible with it.

Reactions

Can attack as a Reaction, but not an Action.

Sting (Bite in Beast Form). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 11 Constitution saving throw, taking 10 (3d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Bite (in "Beggar" form). Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 11 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.  If the bite is taken at a gallop, the DC is 15, due to the immense speed of the attack. (see movement).

Description

Beggar typically presents as a wolfhound, and only in extreme cases will reveal an underlying imp form.  Brought into service by an Archfey, it has slowly grown Fey tendencies, and is in a gray space between Devil and Fey.  For hundreds of years serving in the Fey Realm, it has adopted some strange Fey ideas and attitudes, while still maintaining a devilish core.  It has become a doubter of the lawful evil ways of its early times in the hells, and found more freedom in the chaos of the Fey.

Wolfhounds are impressive hounds prized by humanoids for their friendliness, loyalty and keen senses.  Used to operating among humanoids, they are adept at cadging food and coexisting with people, where their friendly attitude often makes them welcome.  Wolfhounds can be trained as hunting dogs and war dogs, but their main purpose in in the hunting of wolves, where they excel.  Despite looking like a Wolfhound, he gets no advantage to his senses the way a dog might.  His speed is improved in this form, and his bite attack is slightly different (with possible knockdown), but otherwise he relies on his standard stat block.

Friendly.  Friendly companions live their lives for the sake of others, and are always looking for some way to improve their friends’ moods. Every creature with this personality is always on the lookout for new companions, and is much easier to befriend
than others.   The Familiar "Beggar" is skilled at imitating the friendly demeanor of a dog, but as his friendly demeanor is entirely feigned, he gains and conveys no benefits, the way a truly friendly creature would.  His friendliness is calculation and camouflage.
