Actions

Action Melee Attack. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 4) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned until the end of its next turn. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the target is also unconscious while poisoned in this way. The target wakes up if it takes damage or if another creature takes an action to shake it awake.

Description

"During my first impression of the Aligero Elfloro or 'beenabber' I assumed it to be a small bird that had evolved plant-like features that allowed it to hunt successfully. I have since realised it is biologically closer to a plant, and that it was probably created on a whim by some fey entity."

- Garridan Crowley, Master Alchemist.

Specialized Hunters. Beenabbers are ambush predators that hunt bees. Their open mouths appear to be plants in full bloom and their tongues resemble pistils and stamen. Their leaves act as both feathers, and camouflage to blend into the flora.

The saliva of a beenabber is a strong sedative, that can render their prey weak and often unconscious. This saliva is how the beenabber avoids being stung by angry bees.

Flower Power. Beenabbers are highly sought after for their properties as spell reagents and potion ingredients. Their saliva can be refined into a sleeping draught or poison. Their leaves are also as fine as silk, and make excellent adornments to cloaks of woodland stealth.

Beenabbers are often kept as a combination of pet and decoration, as being able to afford one you don't really need is a real show of status. The worst fate however, is probably being collected en masse to form a bouquet by creatures seeking to impress the opposite sex.
