Traits

Apex Predator: The Silverback Gorilla Alpha exudes an aura of dominance and ferocity that instills fear in lesser creatures. It is immune to being frightened and cannot be magically forced to flee from combat. Its commanding presence and sheer physical prowess make it a true apex predator among beasts.

Thick Coat: The Alpha Silverback Gorilla possesses an exceptionally dense and resilient coat of fur, providing natural armor against physical blows. It has resistance to bludgeoning damage from non-magical attacks. This thick coat not only protects the gorilla from harm but also enhances its endurance in combat, allowing it to shrug off many physical assaults with ease.

Keen Smell: The gorilla has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Actions

Multiattack: The gorilla makes two attacks of its choice.

Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d8 + 7) piercing damage.

Fist: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 7) bludgeoning damage.

Pummeling Strike (Special Ability): Once on each of its turns when the gorilla hits a creature with its Fist attack, it can choose to pummel the target. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Bonus Actions

Rally Troop (Once per Dawn): The Alpha Silverback Gorilla beats its chest and emits a commanding roar. Each allied beast or creature within 30 feet that can hear the gorilla gains temporary hit points equal to its Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) and advantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of the gorilla's next turn.

Reactions

Rampage: When the Silverback Gorilla Alpha takes damage from a creature it can see within 30 feet of it, it can enter a Rampage. During its Rampage, the gorilla gains the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • It has advantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws.
  • Its Fist attacks deal an additional 1d6 damage.
  • It gains temporary hit points equal to its Constitution modifier at the start of each of its turns.

However, while rampaging, at the start of each of the gorilla's turns, roll a d20. On a roll of 10 or lower, the gorilla attacks the nearest creature to it, whether friend or foe, other than the creature that dealt damage to it.  If 2 or more creatures are in range after a roll of 10 or lower, the DM will pick a target at random. If no other creatures are within reach, the gorilla takes the Dash action and moves toward the nearest creature it can see.

Description

The Alpha Silverback Gorilla towers over its kin, a massive beast of rippling muscle and primal strength. Its fur, dark and lustrous, forms a formidable mantle around its immense frame, accentuating its imposing presence. Standing upright, it commands attention with a height that humbles even the tallest humans, its broad shoulders and powerful limbs displaying years of dominance and ferocity in every sinewy movement.

The gorilla's eyes, deep-set beneath a prominent brow ridge, gleam with an unmistakable intelligence sharpened by instincts honed through countless challenges. Its sheer size and bulk make it an indomitable force in the wild, capable of bending branches and felling adversaries with a single, thunderous blow.

When the Alpha Silverback Gorilla roars, a primal rumble that echoes through the jungle, lesser creatures instinctively flee or cower in fear. Its presence alone is enough to quell dissent among its troop, and its ferocity in battle is legendary, able to withstand punishment that would fell lesser creatures while delivering devastating strikes that leave opponents broken and defeated.
